Woke up to a tree down in my driveway so decided to ditch work and go for a sail. Made a last minute call to ditch work and head to Swan Bay for a cheeky away game to post my first entry in the 2012 Brass Monkeys Challenge.
After a cruisey 3hr drive arrived to see Jacques already rigged up. Rigged my 5.0, Isonic 86sl with BP SpeedWeed28 (24cm deep). Went out and floated around for a bit but was too underpowered. Came in and changed up to my 5.9 Koyote just as the wind picked up... ah well, so i went out anyway.
Was really powered but something wasnt right... fin kept grabbing weed. After stuffing around for a bit went for a quick up & back on Jacques gear (just missed that bloody ellusive 30kt NM), definitely the fin. Back at Jacques place after had a good look at it, 40deg leading edge which shouldnt be a problem, however the leading edge has a very slight concave profile so the weed was catching at the tip of the fin. May need to look at slightly modifying it.
