Fastest run was 1/3 into session, then the wind picked up but I stuck it out on the 6.6. When Pete was using a 6.3 I know I should have changed down but also knew that when my feet touched dry land again I would not go out so braved it for another hour.

Very happy! So close to 34 with my 500m, and also 35 with my 5x10. My 10sec were nearly always within a knot of peak. 11 runs over 35,  23 over 34! Stoked isnt the word :-D

A marathon of the best speedsailing I have ever done in great conditions with the sun shining :-D

Gutted somehow managed to break a boom and put a hole through my 5.8m after about 20 minutes which ruined my day as such, rigged the 6.3 and was totally overpowered throughout couldn't really hold it down and when you see others on on same board and sail size packing extra weight its a bit worrying.

Such a shame i wrecked my 5.8 i am sure i could of upped my average and max pb's by enough to be very happy with myself but we will never know.

Very impressed with the bus's sailing just goes to show practice practice practice will be good to see his times..............

Crash of the day goes to Tris, manoeuvreÂof the day goes to The Bus for trying to sail up the beach and Best party trick Camel for his little jumps on the upwind slog...........

My best peaks for some time.  Used the 5.8m X15, iSonic 87 and Casper Speed 29.

Corrected the average, was looking at the 2 sec figures. doh!

Good sailing this morning. The wind had turned to a better angle first thing and it continued to pick up and shift around to the WSW. Ended up with some very nice conditions (For this place) but I had to get out just as it was getting good so hopefully Jonny Vapour will have blitzed these times by the time he is finished. The wind in open spots of the lake was strong but coming upwind towards the clubhouse from the south end you could bear off into the middle of the lake on a small section of flat water, the wind was very shifty in this spot and I ended up oversheeting most of the time or spinning out in the chop after a few seconds. My parents and wife and son turned up which was nice. Looks like this is the end of a great couple of weeks of windy weather, will be back playing cricket next week!

5.8 X15 Prototype, Falcon 90 (smallest I've got), Fanatic 30 fin.

Camel was about 4' above the harbour most of the time!!!

After years of trying, finally broke the 40 Knot v max for this spot :).... Was super gusty and you have to battle thru shore break size chop to get near anywhere a bit flatter so using a speed board is not really possible. PB Average, 10 sec and 2sec  for this spot .

Great day at Portland.  Leaned a lot about my kit and tried new things.  So close to joining the Portland 40 knot club with 39.9 on the GPS but there is the trick of Portland...its not an easy thing to do. Maybe If I hadn't left my weight jacket at home!....actualy had 52 knots on the GPS but despite wishful thinking its a spike!

The wind was so gusty..maybe the most gusty I ever see Portland so going fast was more about finding the right gust than sailing speed.

The 51 Speed was good today but also sailed the F79 with 29 Crossfire.  I think I have a new favorite board!  Also loves the Select Crossfires...fast on every point of sail and always felt safe.

This is a Portland PB for me by around 1.5 knot average and 3 knots peak...happy the improvements in kit and my practice is showing with what I would say, quite a large improvement in speed.

Nice one Jim, really well done. Think we missed the best wind but had the best overall conditions with the sun out! Everyone sailed well today, but sailor of the day without a doubt goes to Scotty, at 10years old he was braving hard conditions and looked totally in control!

Thanks Lea, it was a truly awesome day.

Well done on your PB's you looked dialled right in on your 6.6

I changed from my falcon 80 to the falcon speed 66 and couldn't go any faster, I think that was due to tierdness though!

Lets hope this wind carry's on through out this summer.

Cool

a nice little write up for the portland guys by the swaggger taken from gpsss,

Ok then 16th June forecast wind and rain (no work on the roof hehe) pretty much all day SSW to SW gusting 40 + knots records in the harbour broken the week before would it happen again?

After a big breakfast for the journey and the day i set off for the drive to the harbour i arrived about  3 minutes later knackered, which is starting to look more and more like a concerntration camp every day i see it.

Anyway on arrival see Youngey is out already out 0900 so rig up get out and play shortly after i realise there was no need to call for a RSM people were turning up on a solid forecast some posted some didn't but 11 for the day not bad.

Right then what happened? Well we had massive speeds from all pb's left right and centre and no rain, Hats off to The Bus who has come on leaps and bounds to trounce on his best so far, Jim Brake finding form and flying around like a spring chicken,Anthony Barber was sailing solid, late comers in the form of Steve Corps were taking the piss getting 4 to 6 foot air on the way back up wind! Neil hacket first man i have seen in a shorty this year (well last person i saw in one last year so i don't think that means much!) Duncan Adam cooking on gas and sailing bloody well,Jim Crossley came ooooh so close to the Portland Harbour 40 Knot Club,  Robert Heritage doing Pb's more to come there i think,  As for the King of the Bill well moaning as usual but came out on top but not without some crashes which were interesting to watch! As for myself well had a weird wipeout which ended with a knackered sail so had to go bigger or give up which was not nice seeing heavier people on the same sort of kit slowed me down i think but hey what a day!

Oh last but not least Scotty catch me if you can Stallman 10 years old 23.53 peak and 20.28 average!!!!! My man of the day........

As for records no harbour records but many pb's what a day!!!!!

So all in all Portland Harbour the home of speedsailing and if sponsered by Calsberg probably the most fun speedsailing spot in the world..............

Nice one
