Tom De Pauw (5896km): Finally i had the chance to sail at this crazy spot. First run started full power and combination board/sail/fin was fully in control. Max. speed 82/u and 10sec. 78,55/u -> a new pb. Second run also good speeds, it was looking good at that moment to sail a very good 5x10\" avg this day !!! Sadly at that moment Benjamin did a crash and i stopped sailing to help him and i called 112.  Stupid, they refused to send a boat so Benjamin had to walk back to the shore with a totally broken hand/arm ! Session over for me too.

B52 (4642km): The Brace, I already wanted to go there for a long time, but there was always a reason that I couldn't go.  When we arrived I saw a lot of people.  I knew I was coming in a kind of magic place with all very good speedsailors. The first run I decided to do it slowly, to get to know the spot.  Every run i went faster and faster, I had 2 spinouts during a run , but I managed to control the board again, not good for the speed, but what the hell.   After a while Tom told me that Benjamin has broken his arm, really bad news!   I was also worried about my buddy, Gino, i hadn't seen him for a long time.  Result:  focus was gone, the speed went down again and I started to search for my buddy.  Luckily  he was ok.  The way back was heavy, together with Tom, Gino and Wouter we took the material of Benjamin back.  He had also 10kg of lead taken with him, this I dropped 1/2 way, it was too much.   We dropped everything in the car and  went to the hospital. At 01.00 o' clock we went back home and arrived there at 04.00h.   I learned that the Brace is a very difficult spot. You need a lot of experience to sail over there.  I did it slowly and saw that i sailed different then the locals, but i still had to learn.   Now i know the place a little bit and maybe next time i will go faster, but i wll do it in steps.  Going 10km faster is a big difference and the possiblity of hurting yourself is much bigger. I'm very happy with my pr, the difference is not much, the next goal is 80!!!!!!!<img alt= |
