A tough cold day at the Pit, not much wind when i arrived and too much west in it so i was unsure on what to rig. The forcast was for increasing wind swinging to wsw to sw up to 40kts by 1pm so i rigged the 4.4 as i need to practice using it. Thought about rigging my favorite sail the 5.7 but a big squall come through and changed that idea very quickly.

The first few runs produced a lot of 40.5 10 secs and then the wind droped out for a bit, then came back, this trend continued for a good hr. couldn,t get the board to go any faster than 40 and the wind shifted so far south that we were running down to the red buoy to get off the wind. The run back was easy but on the wrong tack for the fin.

No more speed sailing so i jumped on the 52 with the 4.4 for some play time and nealy got the oid board to a 40 just a bit scary, then the wind came in and it got very scarySurprised. Sailed past Gary who was sitting on the bank ,thinking that he should be sailing as its not that bad and went smack into a 40+ squall. Parked on the bank for a bit after that and watched large amounts of sand being moved accross the inlet.

Back onto the 40 for some speed and the higher numbers started to come in but it was a crazy wild ride down the course with big bullets of wind coming across. Made another 3 and called it a day as i was the only one out and it was just getting a bit too risky with the wind.

Finished the day watching high 40kt winds move large amounts of sand so here,s hoping we get some smaller dunes.

Speed. Ca40,Koncept 4.4,Ka/Loc 21

Alpha Sl52,Koncept 4.4, Venom 30 (Sail was a bit to small for the board)

Great Gary and Simon! You guys are really doing paying dues now! The big payoff is getting closer for sure. CoolCool

Great to see Kato out there in extreme conditions proving again what a hard man he is! The wind chill must have been crippling, not to mention it was gusting up to 80 knots at the Prom!!!!

Wild old day here in Melbourne - I was kind of glad to be in a warm building...

Good speeds Craig! With all that wind blowing the sand you should've got out with a shovel and helped it a bit! Tongue outWink
