First sesh on my new 7.8. Very happy with the way it feels. Super stable in the gusty westerly at Melville. Normally I would be suffering from arm pump in that gusty stuff but racked 90km easy today. I'm sure I could have gone faster but I need to get used to the new kit first.

I was hoping it was going to kick in so I could try the 6.3 but Col ruined that by only bringing his small gear.

Open ocean PB - stoked Smile

Nobody at the Pond - too West and too shallow, so joined the bump and jump guys a km North at Carlise St.

Cool place to sail, constant 20 knots, nice swells out in the middle of the bay. Got some fun bearaways with the swell on starboard tack.

Isonic 86, GPS 6.6, Lao Weedy 31 (biggest fin I've had in this board and a PB, duh!)

Guess you will be wanting to keep it then? Although I can't take credit for it as it is an Elmo creation.

Well done, JJ. Nice speed for the Ocean!Cool

Hey Grumpy. Just trying to make my mind up whether to go for a 7.8 Blade or Switchblade. Any thoughts?

Lao both are nice but My preference is still the Blades.

I should be getting a new 2013 6.8 SB tom so be able to give a better comparison.

its been awhile since Ive use a SB.

Hi Mark. I prefer the blade but as allways its a compromise. The blade is more stable in the gusts and has more drive but the SB has a lighter feel and rotates easier. The SB is a good sail but the thing that bugged me most was the center of pressure moved around to much as the conditions changed which is not a good thing on the Swan. In more consistent conditions I could set it up to suit and it was fine. Mine is a 2010 so can't coment on the new ones. One thing worth mentioning about the SB is I can't for the life of me get it on a SDM mast. I've tryed everything short of grinding the cams but it just won't go on my mast. I have it on a Loft RDM.

You are welcome to have a play with my Blade or SB anytime you like. For $200 the SB could be yoursLaughing.

Nice bump up the ladder guys!

Impressive open ocean numbers JJ. You really have this speed stuff worked out.

I would have liked to sail yesterday but was still recovering from Monday.
