Tim Ford (6467km): Rodd Point, NSW, AU Very short on time so no chance to get to Botany, but great to get out for 50 mins or so. 3.5 min drive from home was great. JP Formula Power, NP RSR III 10.7. VMG M70
conan (7831km): primbee west 15-20 gusty & fading , manta 49, vapor 6.4 fin 19 weed . session cut short with broken mast
sick_em_rex (4055km): Foreshore Rd, Botany, NSW, AU should have stayed home and mowed the lawn....OR I could have stopped being a nancy and rigged a bigger sail
Michael Thomson (21372km): Lake Illawarra, 20 knots westerly Carbon Art SL58, Loft Switchblade 6.8, 25cm weedie It was so good to be back on the SL58 after it's repairs. 4:30 am start and it was blowing 4 knots at Albion Park - not a good start. It looked like it was picking up slowly, so I headed off in the dark. Great fun drag racing with Gary, and good to see Wayne testing the waters... On the big fin today, so I played in the deep end. Not a good day for speed, so I went for distance. It was a case of "You shoulda seen it yesterday!"

AlfaMale (2084km): Gusty patchy westerly that had a few roaches complaining.... But the sun was out, the water warm-ish and the gusts fun(ny). Good to see so many people out on the water, and happy to have cracked 30kts! Also did 29kts for 100m. I had 2 boards on the beach and switched depending on the gust strength. If I thought I could get a way with it, I'd take the 91L Excocett RS2 out. If I had any doubt, I'd go with the patched up JP XCite Ride 104L. Not that much of a size difference but it mattered! Difference between uphauling and sinking to my knees.
Went right to the end of the runway, and was thinking about a harbour crossing to kurnell, when bam, sail said goodbye to the board. Spent about 5 minutes flaffing around in the swell trying to get the board perpendicular to the sail so i could reconnect the mast base. Urgh.
Mix of boards, 91L RS2 and 104L JP Xcite with 32cm Nitro and 35 finworks. Sailed 7.0 TR6 early and switched up to the 8.6 Loft later when the gusts dropped and the lulls got longer. Handled the 12kt lulls fine, and the 20kt gusts were surprisingly well managed.
Go large or go home!
I also tried a few laydown gybes near the beach. Absoltely NAILED one, planing exit and all, felt brilliant. But had a fair few failed attempts as well. I remember one, when I dropped the sail, board stopped dead, and I kept going.... landed on my back and SKIMMED like a stone, boing boing splash! Don't learn if you don't try. Until next time.... Larko (3629km): Narrabeen Lake, NSW, AU Nice to crack over 30, its been awhile with bugger all sailing. Happy especially on the big gear. Super inconsistant but thats a westerly in Sydney. Bit surprised as the wind went from W to WSW to SW to S back to WSW. managed to get one or two nicely powered runs but it was wait for a gust and hope for the best!!!! Beautiful conditions on the water, warm, sunny and water warming up. Miller payed us a visit, listened to so much dribble it worries me for Sandy Point. never seen someone take over 2 hours to pack up. Few of the boys out along with the westerly weirdos!! Nice day.
