First up, mt heart felt condolences to Herb for the loss of his beloved Lyn we are all the poorer for the absense of her inspiration to us all, a true Legend of the GPSTC.
Tonight, how to describe it??? Woo Hoo Yeahargh HOLY SHEET
Should have listened to Hardz as he called setting up down at Len Howard, but I've allways bottomed out with little fins and I was playing with a 31, so with a bit of whyning on my part we rigged at Novara and sailed down, with it being a rather high surge tide, the run down was a bit interesting, the sail was lifting evrything of the water including one slightly overweight muppet. sailed through the rock garden on the way out, my fave little spot was chop hop heaven, so thought I would venture down to where Hardz was and check the depth.
Spent the whole of the session trying to get the board to stay on the water, it wasn't that the wind was getting under it, it was just the sail was downhauled that much it was generating huge amounts of lift making the runs oh so exciting, I could tell what my track was because of the brown trail in the water.
My fastest run had two monterous wheelies in it, didn't think my freckle could open up that much, next runs shifted the mast foot forard some more, the next run saw Hardz down a long way down wind not normally where he stopped, just then a gust hit, the board trimmed better but decided it wanted a closer look at the shore, at this stage I don't know what was squealing more me or my freckle as I was getting taken for a ride into shallower and shallower water, chickened out and unhooked and tried desperately to hook it back up wind, it was a nerve wracking battle which I don't think I won by much.
Next run was the same, didn't run aground but fur coats I thought I was going to. Couldn't get beach up wind on this run at all, so just dragged my furry red freckle in the water wash of some speed and mud.
Somehow or other, managed to sail back to base on the one leg.
Did learn a lot about the set up, should have let of about 5mm of down haul and I think the sail wouldn't have been as flighty.
Congrats To Hardz, who gave me a spankin today, Mate you had the set up dialed and were giving it the beans.
Crasher, Nice run, Hope you didn't hurt foot any more, that bone sure looked a bit gnarly.
