Aquatic club Toukley. Went out with 7.5 first and pretty much was blown off the water, came in and threw up 6.6 and it backed off 15 to 18 NE and shifting all over the place from ENE to NNE, Crazy. Still ok Johnny, Pugs out, Ray and Lance. Lance took 2 hours to work out what size sail. I was rigging when he turned up and packing up when he went out. Funny @#$%! Tomoz and Monday is looking super sweet! Goodluck Crew! Go Marauders!!!!!!!!!

Canton Beach, NSW, AU

Wind was gusty and shifting around. Big wind shadow on the shore . Had to swim out to the wind. Once there it was fun. Then swim home again, yuk.

Happy Australia Day all!! A bit underpowered today, but happy to get wet.Is it humid, or what!First sail for 9 days, getting a bit desperate.

SL104,Select viper slam 37, then BP 34 weedy, 6.5 GTX.Needed the 7.9. Bit holey, and gutless wind.Tide was nice and low however.Good crowd: Pete, Chris, Bill, Anton and Ella and Rob on water today. Looks like more serious wind on the way for tommorrow.

Booti Booti, NSW, AU. A bit of a frustrating sail - 15 knots on and off. The on was lovely, almost fully powered on a 7m GTX and Fanatic 102 and pretty flat. No rain yet, so made the most of it. Good to be back on water after a few weeks off and great to finally have an alpha - not a great one but better than 0.

A really good day using my 5.8 Grind and an 83l JP wave and the day gave me a chance to use my new fin. Got a few good duck jibes.

Way overpowered on my 7.5 V8 on JP 114 with 36cm weed free fin in the very gusty NE wind of 20-30 knots. Bloody hairy at times!

A metre smaller would have been better.

Ever wonder if the universe is trying to tell you something? Wink

First sail at Queens in a NE yesterday.  Rigged small expecting the wind to build into the afternoon.  Lovely long comfortable run out, nailed first gybe (never happens).  Gently plopped off coming out of second gybe.  Bootie grabbed deck grip and leg didn't come with me.  Felt ligaments go.  Tried to sail back in.  No good.  Long hop through the mud around the oyster leases back to the car.  Several hours later, went home in a knee brace with crutches.  Off to physio to start rehab this week.  Amusing tracks below.  Hopping through neck deep water with your gear still counts towards distance, right? Wink

Can't believe I've spent most sessions this Summer getting smashed in overpowered conditions, yet I get injured toppling off in what was shaping up to be the most comfortable sail of the season.

Good luck this arvo Marauders!  Hope the big winds come through for you! Smile

That sux ass salt'n'peppa, sorry to hear about your knee. You need to invest in a better story tho cos that one sounds soft................maybe you were attempting an inverted flakka or a flat water fwd - that sounds way betterer

That looked like a long and painful swim/hop to shore - Bugger!

heal quick - autumn is on it's way

So I was chucking a one legged double flatwater forward at such warp speed that my free leg got torn away from my knee... Thanks AJ :-)

What an absolute bummer Nicole. Know how it feels, but not as bad as yours I guess. Gabe and I are thinking of you, and I guess that is Burrum Heads gone. We are not sure about it either because of the cyclones/floods. Hate to get caught up there in a flood. Take care and rest up. We know other people who have had trouble getting onto Glen as well - it is often just a timing thing about when to call. We always ring on a weekday about 8-9am. Will stay in touch.  Feeling your pain!!!!! PS a dud with the wind today - on and off and squally and shitloads of rain.

Ouch Nicole, sounds painful. Hope for a quick recovery, you still have 6 weeks until Burrum.  It is an awesome spot and it would be great to get some more girls up there for the event.  Chris you have to be very very unlucky to get caught in any flooding.  Only happens a few times a year and roads clear quite quickly.  Rain has cleared here already and wind starting to ease.  Should be great for you tomorrow!

Nicole, Bad News but glad to hear you got back to shore safely. Looking at your tracks you could have gone in at Christmas Cove caravan park & de-rigged. Then got some help or made a Phone call to some one. Hope you recover soon.

Caravan Park??? ARGH!! All I could see was wall to wall leases! I will add 'failing to see caravan park' to list of stupid things I did that day. Was an interesting trip in - lucky my GPS doesn't record sound ;-) Thanks so much for the kind thoughts everyone. Would still LOVE to make it to Burrum. Chris and Greg have set the standard for speedy knee recovery. I hope I can follow their lead! Hope you can get out today Marauders!! :-)
