Up in the dark to catch the low tide at 8am but took me too long to rig and I mised the first burst just after dawn. Pretty disappointing wind with 15-20 knots most of the time with surges to 20-25 occaisionally. Underpowered on the 5m Koncept. Tried Tom's CA40 but not enough wind to get it up and flying. I was faster on the iS50. CA40 felt like it will be the goods in 30knts+ though.

I was testing helmet mounted GT31's for Tom. His helmet is great!!

Nice to have my first sail in almost 2 months! Smile

Early start 4:45am, arrive SP, Shelby about to hit the water in limited light, I was on the 9'2" Styro/5.8Kcpt, 38s&39s, 40s on the CA44.

Wind 18-28, no super squalls to be had,  just standing around in the cold having to wait  for the low cloud fronts to swing past.  Quicker runs on the CA44 after I sunk the tail on takeoff and flattened out the tip of the fin on a rock.Cry

The conditions were not great, but we later had some PR work with the fishermen and lent a hand trying to assist them with parking of thier Holden Rodeo Water Hybrid.  Shelby was second to try and pull them out  with a rope that broke on every other attempt even including the Daffy Volvo Shelby Ute Tandem pull setup.

This was when I was digging the wheels free and pushing only to discover that the Fishos' had only unhitched the also bogged boat trailer and not its safety chain as well.  This obviously didnt help the Fishos' new watercraft escape, being allready up to the axels on the seabed.

As we couldn't see a solution we got out of our wetties and let the Fishos stress for awhile whilst trying to summon some more help.

The SP' Tide showed NO MERCY as usual and entered the Rodeo from the RearYell, it started to Hemorage as its electrics shorted.

Its Horn began to blast non stop and attracted more unwanted attention and sniggering from some late arrivals.  Next it was the headlights and blinkers as they came on hard,  this had to be a sign that the end was near for the Holden Hybrid......... or was it...

A saviour with a snatch strapp soon arrived, but the SP' tide had allready had its way with the interior whilst the horn continued to scream mercyCry.   Soon it was all over, and the Fishos' new fish basket launched from the inlet and was back where it belonged on dryer sand.   The Horn and lights continued  to scream and blair and were still going when we left, gues they didn't no where the fuse box was?

Sandy Point sometimes entertaining!!!Laughing

Congratulations on the 1 hour PB's guys, they're not easy to get!  Good to see the pit crew proving their mettle in temperatures that would freeze something off a brass monkey...
