Nice little Sunday session at Rye.The wind backed off to much for me on the 5.0.

As I drove off I paced along next to Spotty who was still charging.Cool

On water at 0815, off at 1743 in the dark, 9'2" Styro' 6.6 Koncept 28fin, first sailed upto Blairgowrie yacht club, wind had a bit of NE.  Dropped in at the folks nearby to say hi and then back to Rye.  Had a get off on the lumpy swell off the Rye Pier.   Continued with long runs between pier and Tootgarook.

Shelby and Martin showed, Shelby witnessing a 30 wipeout going for a NM, got a good bruise for itYell, decided not to goto too hard after that to keep the distance thing going.  Still got 4 NM over 30 though, aaah the temptationLaughing,

The chop was relentless, if you wern't picking your way thru it, you were dodging sandbars and kelp.   Had a 100+ kms up at lunch, asd the wind backed off. Thought 150 was achievable as wind came back in, but the distance reading on the Garmin kept pushing me on.  by 1400 the wind was starting to push 30knots, did several runs with the 6.6 sheeted out going along at around 25kn.

the wind did not let up so went in and rigged the 5.0 Koncept on the Acid wave board and did about 35Km before swithching back to the Styro' and 6.6.   By 1600  everyone had left and it was getting darker, dodging the kelp was getting harder, and my body getting tired.   The 250 mark was looming and I new I'd be quitting when it was too dark to continue.

Night fell and the job was done, don't think I've sailed this far since I was 18-20.  That 6.6 is one hell of a sail it just pulls like nothing, its either flatout or nothing else.

Body feels like jelly now, pleased with the distance will have to try again when I'm a bit fitter and maybe get up earlier, 300 plus the next challenge.

cheers Spotty

ps checking with MalW (RSpd) the diff b/n Tot Dist' 250km and Doppler Dist' 259km, all speeds Doppler

Lorch Oxygen 93 and 83 wave ,  Ka Kult 08 5.8, MFC 24 wave fin

Quick Rye session on wave gear before a family lunch.Distance would have been longer but too much gas bagging on the beach . I was having trouble with spinout in the chop with a wave fin . I think I need to get a slalom fin for the wave board for doing NM's on the bay .I grabbed the 83 for the last run and should have been on it earlier as it is definitely faster.  Was a bit of fun anyway and great to support Spotty on his amazing marathon .

Does this mean the pit crew might be trying for distance today?  If they pick up 4 points then they've got the crown again...

Spotty could be having a shot at distance as he was around 100kms when I was there and he will most likely have a faster NM than I.

Fun quick Rye session . I had never sailed there before in a Northerly . You can get some long runs inside the sand bars .

Spotty was 116 km when I left to go to a family lunch . He was going back for more!!!

I,ll download tommorrow , but not much to offer , was just on wave gear . I think I saw a 29 peak , but was having trouble with spin out in the chop . I think a slalom fin is required to go fast on a wave board .

Awesome effort Spotty. Hope you're not too sore tomorrow.  Great to see SRM relegated to 2nd for now - fingers crossed we hold on through tomorrow - what an improvement on May - amazing what a bit of wind will do.  Hope Wed comes off too for a kick start to July!!

Fantastic effort spotty.

GoogleEarth won't accept an .sbn file, you have to save it from whatever software you're using as a gpx or , hmm -- thinks it's a .kml file, google will open that automatically but you have to change file type to "all" or something like that for the .gpx
