Awesome session today at the Goolwa Alpha Channel. First time out my new Starboard iSW49 speed board. Rigged the Koncept 5.0m, and used the trusty KA/Lockwood 23cm sym fin. The first run was a 40, next one a 41.1, next one a 42.2, next one a 43.7, next one a 45+. The day was just unbelieveable. Great to sail it with Joe, Tim and Sam. Tim and Sam will both be posting some pb's also, so I think we all drove home with smiles. The most amazing thing for me, was that I have also got the iSW44, and I didn't even use this board as the wind was quite square, and was up and down a bit. So the 'big board' did just fine. Wind was around 25 - 40 knots and the water was superbly flat. Great session.

Awesome day at Goolwa. I had some trouble getting comfortable initially but kept on creeping higher. Beat my PB peak many times over and had a 43.82 10 sec. Its days like these that make to no-fires bearable.  Chris.D was flying on his *boards and looked in control from the outset - I wont spoil his thunder. Sam was also flying and would have a few PB's also.

Well done team, now lets bring up the other stats.Smile

Oh yeah, CA44 - RSR5.0 - KA23

Damn, found a small spike(after intense scrutiny) in one of my 10 second runs big enough to help it to second(10s) but not show up in the top 5 peak speeds. Didnt effect my other stats or ranking.

Hey Snides, it was probably around 100 - 110 degrees off the wind today. I thought the speeds were quite good for that angle. Sandy Point is a much longer run - this is only around 1km long, but that's plenty of room still to accelerate, get a 500 in, and get out of it at the other end. And it's F L A T ! Way flat. Like little ball bearings under your board. It's a bit like the east bank at Sandy. We'll only have it until it rains, or they flood the lower lakes with sea water - then we're back in the chop again.

Hey Meta, you guys still had a good session today. This was a big front, and it certainly would have reached you guys inland. It was a shame you couldn't make it down though - you would have loved it.

One of the freesailers walked out on the bank (drove around the southern side) after his session and was taking pics, might catch up with him next sail.  It would be good to capture the day and the conditions.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. We are lucky to have this great spot, but will only have it for a few months or so I guess. I can guarantee we will make the most of it at every opportunity. I'd invite you all over here for a few runs.......but then it would just get crowded. We'll try and get some photos up to give you an idea of the conditions. Cheers.

Cheers Pete(& all), we were all having a great time and couldn't believe what the conditions were producing.  Truth is that we would also like to see some pics as Sam and I were getting some nice close runs and hamming it up. We are not even sure now if it was a sailor - would the mystery snapper please come forward.
