Firie Bob -I think you split my file in 1/2 !!Sailed 142 klms yesterday -looks like Lao Shi just pipped me-Ba....

This is Al my son's initiation trip to Maui -frustrations+++ so far  Day 1-no interconnection flights from Oahu Days 2&3-no wind.Day 4 wrong gear but who's complaining...Great Spot -wind & swell looks promising for today .

Sailed a JP RW wave & 6.2alpha yesterday -got some nice jumps in & off the wind blasts.Wind was fickle however...Al was firing on his 68l pro wave -jumping nicely & now tabletopping.Met Levi Siver in the afternoon after a hookipa session ...

Some amazing times back in OZ-well done Chris Dimond & team & Shelby -lots of voltaren gel for that neck !!

A distance PB in Maui! That's some effort - it's ROUGH out there! Looks like you don't mind some long runs way out the back. Are you staying at Sugar Cove? Looks like you launched there from the picture.

Hi Chris-well spotted we are at sugar cove-stunning spot -sprecs down wind/secrets upwind...

Very impressed with your 35+ knot times when you were over-going fast over here is incredibly hard work -stray 2m waves for instance suddenly pop out of left field at 31+ knots have a tendency to completely unseat you ...

Already broken battens, lost yet another pair of sunnies & had endless number of nasty crashes -have a new crash vest courtesy of Naish Maui to protect the ribs ... challenging sailing .

How's the nose ??!!

G'day Dr Cam. The nose is a bit sore still - thanks for asking- but the swelling is starting to come down. When I was in Maui, the boys were getting their fastest runs just of Camp One a little but further West than you were sailing in the image above. If you launch from Sprecks Beach - it looks like you pulled in there - and just bear off madly you can generally find some smooth spots in the shallows between the waves. Sometimes you get a good run, sometimes not, but you always have to be prepared to negotiate a steep wave face at some point, and that's when it gets interesting. Good luck!
