First up welcome to Rossco and his first session, he sailed at Kurrimine Beach Smile

WOW Lyn nice PB big congrats, you hammered Herb today Tongue out

Got to Yorkey's and it was howling so I rigged my small sail, the 5.9 O2, got my max first run off the beach. But dam it was rough, just couldn't do a straight NM downwind and blew every 2nd gybe so my hour was shot. When I got out to rest my elbow, I had a message on my mobile from Cam's loverly wife, he was missing off Clifton Beach out to sea, she was more than a little concerned. So that was the end of my sailing ha, all good with a happy but expensive ending, never dull Smile

My session is "open water" and Doppler LaughingLaughingLaughing

Just went out with usual Loft 02 and Mistral 104 Screamer.     When the big wind came I was very comfy. (Unlike Herb)

Holly snapping duck poo Cam, you were 18K's out in that wind with a 7.3M sail, crazy basket SurprisedCool

The white line is to where I think Cam's boom gave way, that's 5K out mate Surprised

Don't worry about the yellow track, it's from an old track that Google wont let go Undecided

Great to have some wind finally. Got the cobwebs off the 5.5 Ezzy Freeexpression and hooked the Fanatic Cross 100 with a 30cm Extreme Slalom skeg. Great to enter the world of the best god sport around. Thanks guys for all the help.

Boom explosion way off shore not a good start to the day !!Rerigged remaining 1/2 boom -made it to double island negotiated breaking waves/oyster rocks etc, attempted to sail across channel to shore when remaining 1/2 of boom exploded into 3 pieces-swam back to island, carried rig across 500m of rocky reef(low tide) made it to the double island resort where the nightly fee is $20000 !!!! & was promptly abused by resort staff member +++ for trespassing -What A day -possibly worst sailing experience of life.Convinced a staff member finally to take me across channel in small dingy -too rough at jetty so dumped me in shore break with remaining rig & promptly left me to swim into shore (mainland)again  with board, mast /sail/harness lines.Cost -around $2000 in boom/lost Gps unit/lost harness lines/lost wages ....

Don,t tell me Cam, let me guess, all this happened in your lunch hour.Smile

Anyway, after seeing the way you sail at Green Island I think you would survive the Perfect Storm.

Go back to work for half a day, that should pay for damages, and a night on Double Island.Money mouth

Cam, bit disappointing to hear you suffered major gear failure so far out. Even worse, to hear how our fellow Australians treated you in your time of need. What a bunch of %$^&$#^^&^%^*&^&&*& 's When I last checked, the requirement is always to lend assistance to stranded sailors suffering gear breakage.  Hope some day those who complained and didn't help, suffer a similar fate Yell

Sorry to hear aboutFrown that Dr Cam. Bugger about the gps. Did it get waterlogged? I had a mate in the middle east who broke his UJ and floated in to the local navy base. Not only did they acuse him of trespass but they threw him in the clink for 24 hrs!Surprised

His family finally got him out but it always gave sailing that edge as you sailed past the naval base.

Do you carry flares on your solo excursions?

Firie and DR Cam, I hope you both carry mobiles when sailing so far out, gear breakage(boom, fin) is always on my mind and why I dont usually go too far out, especially by my lonesome Surprised
