Beautiful day but wind still 18-22knots with big holes...JP slalom 84 mfc 34cms 6.7 helcat .NP JP Maui are a little light on race /slalom sails & finsat present so some experimenting with gear today ...crashed & burned a few times with ongoing fin cavitation problems.Had a boom failure out in the deep dark water when the mast/boom rope snapped in 2 pieces-stuff of bad dreams treading water for 30 mins trying to sort the fu....r...

Chris A still not even close to your Maui speed course times -will keep trying !!

Herby went out first and when I seen him eventually get on plane I went out for 70 mins.  We don,t get wind ...we get a bit of breeze...but delightfull to be there and doing it.

On a hot day the dam gets a local thermal wind uh uh, breeze caused by air rising above ploughed paddocks and cooler air coming down off range and across dam.    For my first 30 minutes I was mostly moving at about 3 knots,,,then about 3.30pm the thermal starts and we can plane a bit.

We love it and it backs up the superb effort from Dr Cam.

What a dayTongue out been in my wetsuit since 9.30am

tried to sail at dutchies in the NW to get some waves but too much weed to go anywhere,so packed up and went to point walter. where it was pretty windy did the majority of my sailing there and got tops speeds there. the fin i was using delaminated but i didnt realise this until i got out. wondered why it was getting big on me and spinning out. wind went round to the west so drove to melvile and borrowed a fin off chris L for another hour or so of sailing in up and down winds. also sailed my wave board at point walter and got a 33.2 2sec on it so pretty happy.

best speeds were with 5.8 koncept and 85l 05 isonic and the standard, now stuffed drake fin.

bob can sort my alphas and check data.

Looks like you have given the old Sprecks speed course a decent workout! Did you kiss the reef at any point?
