Really nicew little session after work at Peli. Did't hit water until 6 by which time wind was getting patchy but decided to get as many water miles as possible as training for LOC. So headed up to Melville, took a few tacks but got there eventually. Wind was gusty making it hard work. Some slight tweaking on the beach and had a FUN run home...even though wind was gusty, it was really nice to lay back on the long harness lines, crank up some speed and ride the swell back to Peli. Hope LOC is as easy ?!.

CR 6.7, IS 87 and LE 32

nice afternoon on the river (Melville), but not as windy as we were hoping for. Same combo as yesterday (SP44/6.6m/CL24A), and very similar speeds. The gusts probably werent as strong but they lasted a little bit longer. Thought about giving Pt Walter a crack later after the wind had started to drop but got stung by a bee on my knee after just leaving the alfred cove area. Given what happened last time, I pulled the sting out straight away and sailed back to go straight to the chemist for some antihistamine. Fingers crossed it keeps the swelling down or I'll be off the water for a while.

very disappointing forcast again decided to travel to hardies again(3HRS return) in hope of the fabled 30knots.

unfortunately i firmly believe now it is extinct for good.the 25 knot day is also an endangered species.

even so  it was pretty nice to get out in warm water and have few runs with the silver bullet and the 5.8kon

good to catch up with the crab crew as well!

A grovell at Hardies - undercooked on the 6.6! Certainly fell away after 3pm. River or Woodies looked like better decisions!

Did ya get there Mickey?

Meville beach, rigged 6.1 anticipating a strong seabreeze, not to be but did manage to find one good gust which made it worthwhile, slowy sailing so fast even the bees are not quick enough to get out the way.

W49 & IS86, 6.1, 26 & 29 F1.  GT 31 Doppler.

Hardy I think the whole of WA was feeling let down by the forecast promising so much... There are a lot of us now hoping (praying) for 25-30kts+ wind. The relationship between wind speed and board speed is being realised by more people... "I hope I get another gust like that one, or STRONGER". Hooked.

the problem is when they forcast hot weather ie 30 plus you are rarely going to get 25 knots plus.

you need those  days where they forcast around 26ish to have any chance.

yesterday at hardies the sea breeze was just 2 warm in fact the wind came back late when it started to cool down need that cold dense stuff to have a chance of wind they are forecasting 37deg the next couple of days and 25 to 30 kn as well cant really remember it ever blowing 30kn after a hot peak in the morning.

of course it will prob blow the rocks off the mole today.......Embarassed

you right Snides, a good seabreaze if I can remember is 26-28 deg, 18-22 knots STABLE, not that crap we have been getting the last few times with all the holes, up and downs! I am going back to work for a week, so the breeze should comeback now Wink... have fun BTW, last night was great again, flat and stable. Maybe way to go! start sailing at 19!

it seems BOM can predict pretty much all the weather variables fairly accurately (temp rain etc),how ever when it comes to wind strenght they havent got a bent clue or maybe they over estimate  on purpose perhaps for liability reasonsUndecided

I hear ya Snides.

I can recall in my youth we'd get at least half a dozen 25K+ 'buffaloes' in a typical summer season.  This summer?  I don't think we've had one yet!

The BOM are turning into the proverbial 'boy who cried wolf' with their string of 20-30K forecasts.  And the predictive model behind the long range forecasts on Seabreeze doesn't seem much better!
