Went for the 1 hour category today wind kept dropping out had a 20.5, a 19.1 and an 18.5, then got close to my distance PB so went for that, and then did a coupla Alpha's.  Fun day, Reg's races had a big turn out, did 2 races, that was fun, no energy for more.

Sorry to hear about the Cobbler sting Steve.

Hopefully Sam has done some decent hours and we grab a coupla points back.

Elmo had a massive stack Was Led Zepplin for a while "Dazed and Confused"

Great to sail with all the Mandurah Mob crew and everyone else.

Elmo looked very dazed hope ur good champ. I think Sam has got a few PB's. Top stuff captain on the PB, SRM have bagged a few good numbers, will be interesting!

Arrived @ beach prepared for good winds to test new board with small sail. WRONG, wind a bit too light for the 5.2, Hardy said. he and Sam were doing hours and a 3rd back up would be good. First run out fell into a big hole, so decided to try a few alphas first, went back for a cuppa, waited for wind to pick up a bit and tried again. Better this time didn't fall into a hole until I gybed deep into Claudesville, took me ages to get planing again, but after that wasn't too bad.

Think I need a better bigger sail, still not real comfortable with top end of lightning 6.0.

JP Slalom IV 104L, NP RS4 6.7m, JP Slalon III 36cm, Benders Fin X, JP Slalom III 34cm.

Reg's WSP Mandurah Drag Race meet.

Great turnout for social race meet, lots of crew on the water discovering just how far the platform is away from the start. Unfortunately I sail like a muppet, splattering 2 starts, 2 gybes.

Day turned worst when I went back out to test one of Benders fins, Unfortunately it wasn't suited to my heavy footed style of riding, so thanks Bendyman you saved me a stack of brass going down that path.

Had a bad stack at the end of the run, which wasn't what you would call a bad stack, unhooked about to initiate the gybe when I go over the handlebars landing on my back and slamming my head into the water hard enough to stun and I believe almost knock us out, Survival mode kicked in managed to sail at low speed back to base, had jelly legs and struggled the whole way back all caught on Muppetcam, Have a sneaky suspision I might have hit a fish as the stop was pretty quick.

After a nanna nap next to my car decided to get back on the horse (with a change of fin) and see if I could redeem myself, did a couple of runs but the legs were still rubbery. Thanks for all the crew who came and checked up on meCool.

Looks like a couple of trips to the back cracker this weekCry

Big Congrats to Hards and Sammy for the huge distatnce PB'sCoolCoolCool

W52 starboard, 5.8 RSSII and Bender 24cm G10 weedy

55 minutes on the water on a brilliant afternoon, loads of people onthe water for the WSP races. I just wanted to get used to the boad and sail...... waiting for the first race to start I walked about 15 steps to windward at the southern end of the powered boat chanel and scored a cobbbler sting to side of left footCry. Currently sitting with foot in very hot water. Great tip from Dot: keep topping up from thermos.  (thanks for the tip and your help Dot).Smile

i had about an hour before the pain realy kicked in and from great coaching from Decrepit and Elmo knew as soon as I was stung it was smart to pack up and get foot into hot water. good thing as initialy it was only a sting. Could have thought I could tuough it out. That would not have been smart. That is a great thing about living near where I sail. Had time to get back to beach, de rig, drive home, put trailer away, wash wetsuit , shower and still get fot into hot water before intense pain cut in.

Just walked to kettle and refilled thermos. by the  time I got foot back in water intense pain set in.

Maybe less venom from side spineUndecided Nope pretty painfulFrown

Good time at hardies, great to see all those people. I did not socialised much as I was on a missing for kms, my goal was 160 and did 210! good enough. Started the day at 8.30.. Sindes, and 25 was already on the water.. and Snides still there when I left!!

Did all day on the iSo86, but 2 laps on the SP50 - 5.8 RSS at the end of the day trying to bring my speed up....the wind died, rised it by 1 knot!

Morning session SSE, with broken wishbone and walk of shame as I was doing my LAST lap Yell at 12.00

iSo86, 6.7RSS, 34 pointer custom

In the afternoon I tested 2 great fins with same gear iSo86L_5.8 RSS, same wind, same area.... thanks Crasher and Slowboat for the lend Cool, awesome time

Afternoon sessions

An hour on the Falcon 32

2 Sec: 29.117, 5x: 27.164, NM: 25.641, Hour: 22.439  >> feels: slippery in chops, very free and lite, huge top end, need wind to work well, when powered... quite relaxing

An hour on the CL 30 Custom

2 Sec: 29.847, 5x: 28.119, NM: 27.917, Hour: 22.143  >> feels:  rock solid in the chops, can sail on fin never failed, monster power, feels like going downwind every laps, works any wind, very sporty to drive, not sure about top end.... love it, shame I was tired (I had 150k already in my legs at that time)

we can clearing see the difference between the 2 tracks of the fins!!! Overall the winner is the CL30 custom Wink

Thanks for hosting us all down there.  Meanwhile,  I lost a Ronstan start watch on the waterCry.  Near alpha land I think.  So if you see anything on the beach I'll owe you some beers.

Great effort Sam, congratulations.

p.s. my first time out today on the W52. Felt great for the short distance I managed. Really looking forward to getting more ks done on it with the RSR5.8Cool.

Benmer, your 24 was great, occasional spinout (no doubt pilot error as I get used to it ) and it immediately recovered with the smallest correctionSmile

Heres Muppetcam from race 1

Note the unique internal handicap system I have at the start, why make it easy for myself

For those that don't know the the race consisted of 2 legs of +4km each, with only one opertunity to stuff the gybe. The vid has been whittled down by around 3-4mins to fit on Youtube.

There is some irony in the music chioceWink

Hope you enjoy

Don't forget to make ithe vid High quality by clicking on arrow bottom right hand corner and selecting HQ when the vid is running
