Burrum Adventure we were heading into the storm while most were getting out of there Surprised.

We took a gamble and it paid off today woke up this morning with rain and no wind some were thinking about going home.

But we had hope so we stayed and then the wind started coming up tide was dropping wind was maybe 15-20 all of us decided to rig small and hope for the best luck we did wind picked up too 25-30.

Gear Loft Blade 5.6, ISonic49, Venom 25 totaly stoked Wink

Vando,

What were you thinking - you could have stayed there and punched out 551km to reach 10000km.  at 41 knots it would have only taken 7.5 hours.  Congrats on the PBs - hopefully we'll get the same conditions in 3 weeks time.

Sensational numbers! Gotta love a cyclone.

Well done boys, you must have loved that session. It's a pity you don't get those conditions more often.....but then it's good for the rest of us that you don't.

Vando - the IS49, I bet that felt fantastic? And the Venom 25, do you rate this as a good 'user friendly' speed fin?

Well done lads. Smile

Hey Chris D The Venom 25 is rock solid i was coming into the run at full speed through some pretty nasty stuff till i hit the flat water. i had a few guys standing near the bank a bit worried Wink haha. Trackpoints had me peaking over 43. We should have some video footage coming too, hope it turns out ok. Smile

Well done all! March is HOT!

the guys only got 25-30 knots which isn't that much wind considering. we get lows and hybrid lows regularly between december and april that produce that much wind.

if hamish came in closer and delivered the 50+ knot winds it was producing at it's centre then that would have been a 1 in 10 year type event.

this is a list of qld cyclones http://www.windworker.com.au/qldcyclones.htm

this is a list of east coast lows http://www.ga.gov.au/image_cache/GA4206.pdf (typically shorter in life.)

Vando: The speed strip looked like it ran on Port Tack ("Venom" Symmetric fin used), if it was a starboard Tack run and you could have used one of your Assymetric fins do you think it would've made a difference?

Firiebob

Been waiting for photos / video, here or the Breeze come on UndecidedTongue out

Hey Vando Man, no question on how good the Venoms are now mate, I just ordered another one the other day WinkCool

Vando

yer wrong tack for assy Hardie it would be great to compare both.

The coarse was very tight so perhaps I could have got more out of a assy shame they dont make a port tack one cause most of the runs here are port tack.

Hey firebob what sizes ya got now.

Choco

SA
Australia
5765 days ago

Vando you should have stuck your assy in backwards that way it would have worked on a port tackLaughing last week i switched from a sym to an assy on a square course and it felt like the board was running a rail tracks big difference...going back the other way wasn't as good but it more than makes up for it on the right tack.
