Quick session in the morning. Wind was mostly 15kts SW with the occasional 20kt gust. Hit the speed bank but the wind was too broad. Almost like sailing into a gybe.

Good to see so many cockies out. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Nice early start on the water at 8.15. S-SW 17 - 25 knots with a few bigger gusts.

Jp Xcite 110, NP V6 6.5, mean lines 36. Wanted to crack 30 knots with the speed run but just could not get there with the wind direction - dam it.Yell

Is there such a term as 'sailing ugly'? Cause that's what it felt like today. Was blowing nicely when I got there so rigged a 5.8, hit the water and wished I had put up my 6.7. Bobbed around for a little while, got 1 gust and my downhaul snapped. Back to the beach for repairs.

Take 2, made it up the bank and like everyone else said it was just too broad but I did manage 1 gust at least. Decided to head back down the bottom of the bay and get some longer runs in which was fine.

Take 3 decided to try the drops speed board.....bad move....not enough wind....sunk Frown...Back to the beach.

Take 4, back out on the Falcon 90 for some nice powered up runs then all hell broke loose with some mad 25 knot gusts that wanted to blow me off the water. Decided to call it a day and put it down as 'one of those days'.

Sandringham 20-25 S/SW

Starboard S-Type 126, Loft O2 7.4, 35cm Select fin (LOUD!)

Another early start 8:30 and the wind seemed to be way down from yesterday, so I rigged the light wind kit. I was glad I did, as there were so many holes and lulls. There were some 25 knot bullets that came through from the sourh west, and occasionly I was in the right place at the right time. It was a bit hard to steer the 68cm wide S-Type down the gently curving track, but the gybes at the end were a hoot!!

Sandringham, 21-26kn SSW.

New sail today.  Second hand really but new to me so still good.  6.7m RS Slalom.  Sail felt good.  Made the abundance of holes in the wind seem less of a hurdle as the sail seemed to power through some of the lulls.  Has a nice stable feeling about it with plenty of power on tap.  Sure beats the North Natural I would have been using instead...

Kept getting into the speed strip only to have the wind drop so it was a bit frustrating.  Only found wind behind the sank bank once.  Guess it was just one of those days where the wind wasn't cooperating.

Not sure why I wasn't getting a 1hr reading in Real Speed today.  Have to play round with it a bit more...

All in all a fun sail with lots of Cochroaches out on the water - most of who I'm just starting to meet.

Thanks to Sean too for giving me a lift down since my car is in the shop.

sandringham, JP Slaom II 94, Sailworks NX4 6.6 (heavilly depowered from its last repair) & David's JP 34cm fin to be reluctantly returned.

Like Rex said Ugly best describes the conditions today, fortunately the 25knots of so that came in at 12:00 gave me a few good runs on the board or i would have left feeling somewhat disgruntled

The speed strip had no wind left by the time i got to it & eventually covered up again by the time some decent gusts came back.

A 29 & 30knot+ 10sec in the bumpiest part of Sandringham leaves me thinking this board has a lot more potential to go fast than the hypersonic which would have bucked me off for even thinking to attempt such a thing, i just have to figure out how to gybe a sub 77cm board..

Good to see the guys there again & Andrew finally on a cambered sail

What a disappointing weekend. took a day trip to Munmorah with the boys on Saturday and got bugger all. Wicked rain squalls with no wind in front and then glassy water. Hoping for long runs and constant wind. Scratch that day.

Today, family duties meant no trip to Sandringham to join the Cockies and had 2 hours playtime. Had a very quick couple of runs under Wimbledon Island in super gusty wind. Still good to get out.

Probably the highlight was a cranking planing gybe that I thought was a good Alpha but no where long enough, oh well!!

Can we have some W/SW please???

My two bobs worth, all be it coming in dead last. I hope I haven't damaged the Cockroaches average too badly. My excuse,....it's been a couple of months! But that wind was strange,.. I concur Boss Man! Still it hurt more to leave, would have stayed but for work. Bloody work!
