Barrenjoey Wind:NW 20/25 knots 30+ gusts. Very gusty. JP Super Cross 96, NP RS Slalom 5.8, Tectonics 30 fin.
Hard work but good fun. Perhaps the Lake would have been better from late morning, had a look on the way home and looked good!

WOW!, all it takes is one good gust and a bit of flat water and even a place like Narrabeen Lake can give you a PB. To say it was gusty is a gross understatement. One minute there is dead calm then the next is a 20-25knot bullet ripping through. I guess it was just a typical westerly in Sydney though.

Had a 5.8Koncept up and stayed on my Falcon 90 even though I had the speed board on the bank ready to go. It was just too gusty to worry about getting it wet.

Good to see so many sailors on the water though. Must have been 20-30 people out. I'm not used to such crowds!!!

Kurnell WNW 15 - 40 knots

JP Slalom Pro V 60  Neil Pryde RS Racing 7.2  Tectonics 32 F1

Very bumpy and the wind was very gusty, some big hang on gusts of 35 - 40 knots.

Conan did a big starfish.

Kurnell W/SW 15/30 knots

Loft O2 5.9 / NP Alpha 4.7, Bic 98l, 30cm Select Viper fin

Early start, on the water before 9am. The wind was around 20 knots, so I rigged the 5.9 and headed up into Quibray bay looking for some flat water. After half an hour, the wind had picked up to 25 knots so I headed back in and dropped down to my 4.7, expecting the 33 knots that were forecast. This, of course, killed the wind. There were lulls that almost backwinded me. It was like the wind in the lull was getting sucked back into the approaching gust. Sinking one minute, then fully powered on a 4.7 the next. Typical westerly. Huge confused bumps out in the bay, and of course the de-sal works totally got in the way.

Bloody hell, what a day!! Great to get out with some of the cockies and like Andrew said, gusty as!!

Lake Dangerous was cranking one minute and glassy the next. If you jagged a gust it was sweet. Early on it was too north and all over the place. Swung to the west and it was on. Some of the gusts were ballistic, hold your gear down. First went out on Falcon 111, 6.2 RS Racing and 36 JP. Some fun sailing and wicked gusts.

Lunch was on with sausage sanga's on the council BBQ's then it cranked up a notch. Grabbed the new JP and finally made it upwind. Managed a couple of runs and the JP rocks. Got a powered down winder and thought Id pipped Rexy but not high enough for flat water, very choppy for speed runs. Andrew and Chris were flying on a very broad reach until running out of wind. A fun day with lots of the usual westerly weirdo's out.

Well done Andrew, I think I saw your run. Stopped in on the way back from Barrenjoey & saw you gunning along out there. Too tired to join you after the morning session. Match fitness well down. Need some more time on the water before Sandy Pt later this year!

Cheers guys, always good to get a pb. 35 has always been a goal and I almost cracked 36 so I'm pretty stoked. Could have sworn Larko pipped me, his run looked so damn quick from the shore so if mine looked like that then I'm a very happy old man.

Hey Adam been meaning to tell you for ages, I got a pic of you at Sandy Point that I can email you. Send me a message on Sea Breeze with your email addie and I'll send it to you buddy.

glad you all had fun blasting at the lake, palm beach had lots of confused cross chop & a lot of weed + i have some serious tuning issues to sort out with my smaller sails, or maybe i'll have to learn how to sail on my back leg only when i'm using the 5.4... front foot wont stay in the strap..

here's a few pics from lake dangerous, i've got higher res copies if any one is after them. it looks like grant's new board is a bit camera shy...

Hey sean.... about the front foot coming out of strap problem. I had that myself a while back. I think the cure was slightly lowering the boom..... I'd try a post on seabreeze requesting advice if I were youWink

FLAT WATER....!!!! Lake Dangerous looks like a mill pond compared to Kurnell sunday,

I should have taken my dirty washing with me and thrown it in the WASHING MACHINE with me.

I must come down next big westerly. Last time a was there with Sam

the Narrabeen Swap Monster ripped off my GPS while I was doing 6-7 barrel rolls.
