lao shi (27489km): Aim for today was a 22 hour. Got to Peli to see Snake rigging the 6.7 and the wind filling in. Right! Rig the 7.5, put on some weight and lets go. Wrong!!!After 10 mins 18-20 became 20 - 24 and I was horribly overpowered but Snake was belting along and clearly going well. Ok hang on and hope it dies off. 30 mins of bearing away sheeting out and tailwalking, launching off the top of rolling chop and it is getting stronger! Fluff a couple of gybes but keep going. See Snake on the point and assume he has finished so keep going and finish with a run down past the South Perth YC. Sail back in and make it to the bar where I stop exhausted. The most overpowered hour I have ever done! 17 gybes. Decide to change down and the wind drops! Turns out Snake bust a boom in a big stack 10 mins short and had just got back to the point after a good swim. Doh! 9k up! Koncept 7.5, JP 84, 30cm pointer +5kgs. Always tomorrow.
Macka Packa (8161km): Arrived at Peli just as multiple people came off the water saying overpowered - beauty! Looking good! Rigged the 5.5 as Snake came out with a broked boom - it MUST be strong - woohoo . Onto the water and you know the drill . Rigged the 6.5 and plugged it into the big board, good choice that made the most of fading conditions. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Futura 93/122, OD 5.5/6.5, MFC32/40
nebbian (8209km): Things were looking good for a 4:30 exit from work... I'd been out to a client at 2:30, watching the whitecaps on the swan, the trees rustling invitingly, the flags snapping nicely... Then at 4:00 the boss asked me to "just do a quick update". Which turned into an hour-long epic of frustration Still got out the door at 5:05, raced down to Peli to find Lao Shi shaking his head at the conditions. Doesn't matter, I rigged the 7.0 on the new boom, got out there, and had a great time blasting around the river Claude shot past me at one point, great to see him back on the water. iSonic 94, Ezzy Infinity 7.0, C3 Venom 36.
Hardpole (5685km): First coast run of the season, very slow but a lot of fun. Not much use for the team but I guess Im just selfish Was tired out from rigging up, kept pushing the wave fin too hard and sliding. Kombat 79L, 5.0 Ezzy SE Wave. Mettams to Costalotta (Sorrento). Always windy on the 30th of October (its my birthday). And I was a long way from 40 Knots by 50 Years, but I will have to aim for 32 Knots by 51 years.
5.0 was perfect from about 3:30 to 5:30.
Snake (13281km): real bummer of a day. On track for a great swan hour then over the handle bars in a bullet gust and crack there goes the 2nd chinook in 8months...had 11 minutes to go and had done 21.5kn , quite devastated...Tried to rig down using Mark's boom ( Thanks heaps Mark ;) ) and the ram 6.3 but the wind had died off by then so only managed one under powered run. still happy with the numbers considering it was all dead across the wind though :) tomorrow will be the day guys!!!!
