kato (15334km): Hardies last day at the Pit before he heads to SA. A potential Pb day for me that all disapeared with the wind, just needed a few more powered up runs. I just couldn,t get that last Duck to line up Had 42, 42.6, 41.8 peaks with the first 3 runs just couldn,t back it up. A fun day had by all.
Shelby (3638km): A bit of a gusty day that ended up dying out a bit quicker than expected. Good to see kato flying all over the place CA40,RSR5.8,Lockwood 23.5 assy
Mr Love (2508km): The PIT,Last day of SHQ Cup. First run felt very underpowered and I was surprised to see 44.45 on the dial. Had a 44.475 max speed on realspeed but the 2 second got knocked way down. Oh well 3 Runs for the day, First was good, second had trouble with traffic. 3rd run traffic ahead as well, passed somebody on the outside then veered back to the bank a bit too hard. Hit the bottom at 40.45 knots. Ouch. Shattered carbon boom and tweaked calf muscle ended my day. I hope the other guy's did a bit better. Great to see lots of people having a go on the speed run. Andrew Daff (9318km): Spent too much time rigging and missed the wind. The good strong wind only lasted half and hour or so after the wind swing. Used both the 2010 5m and the 2009 5m but on different masts so hard to compare. New sail felt extremly stable! CA40, KA20 assy speed fin. Well done to the guys that were on the water at the right time. That is an important skill I will have to brush up on.
Spotty (4516km): Long day in the wettie, First time on the 2010 5.7 Koncept very stable, noticebly on the upwind return. Wind was swinging back and fourth and up and down, so was underdone on the 21.5 assym' fin, changed to the 23 and the wind was getting less and so to were the speeds. Sail felt really good with a hint of extra accelleration, seemed to do it all with ease. 4.7 Kaos in the wave comp in the morning, 30knts on the inside and 40 out the back at times, others were on 3.2-5's. Good to see lots of people busting some moves in the strong wind. Managed some rusty end over fwds and back slap backies before it was time to break for lunch and head over to the speed strip. Peter Johnston (5021km): Still the team slowie! I was really hoping to push up my speed PBs. Two runs with the 4.4 Koncept and busted the second batten from the bottom then spent an hour getting it fixed (muchos thanks to AMAC and Mal for helping me sort it out!). By the time I got back on the water the wind had dropped considerably and I was underpowered. Should have dashed in and rigged bigger but... 4.4m O7 Koncept, Lorch Div S 63L, KA assy 21.5cm |
