2010 5.8 Kult + 2009 Kode 86 + 2009 Maui Ultra Fin 28 = HEAVEN ON A STICK!
Would have been a great day and direction for a distance attempt - post frontal and going to blow all day. If I stayed, I would have rigged the 6.6 Koncept on iS101 and sailed till dark.... but work calls.

F2 Stoke 117ltr, 6.7 NP Supersonic, 36 Northshore Maui Freeride,
Got there too late after work and wind had dropped to 10 to 15 and cross on with 4 foot sets out the back, Haven't sailed under 15 for a few years but seeing as I have lost 12kilos and now at 80 and a new board gave it a go, rigged the old 1999 supersonic as didn't want to trash my good RS4's in the surf out the back, surprisingly I got planing so just done a couple runs out to sea, never really powered up properly and sail has draft a lot further back, board went well, sorry to drop the average should be out the lake Sunday.

5498 days ago 2 categories 1st time at Semaphore beach with slalom gear. Haven't ridden there for years and what a great spot. Clear water, close by home and a solid breeze. Arrived at 5pm and the wind was 18 - 23 knots. The wave guys were on 5 odd metre sails so i rigged the 5.8 koncept. Joe opted for the bump and jump gear. Had images of deep black scary water and was surprised how clear the water was and how much fun it was. Since the lakes have been flooded and no more flatwater spots i think i will sail here quite often.
After seeing Firiebob's helmet cam off the beach i have wanted to try the local coast. The water state off Semaphore is more bump and jump than Firies video footage. The swell was 1/2m out the back and close by the shore and it was quite choppy in between. Now i have ridden there and know what to expect i think next time i will try some bear aways in the chop. The 1st aim is 30 knots and then see what happens from there. At the end of my session i saw something porpoise out of the water. It was a dolphin - definately not a shark. Quite a few bump and jump guys out - saw a couple of forwards - great stuff. The fanatic falcon 89 with the 5.8m koncept and 32cm venom were a dream to sail even in choppy open water conditions.
The scenery of the local talent at the end of the session walking, running or skating past was better than what we are used to at the lakes.
Semaphore beach 18 - 23 knots.
Fanatic falcon 89 / 2009 5.8m koncept and 32cm c3 venom.
