Carl Macdonald (18593km): 2nd time at Semaphore and a very average sail. The bom was saying 20+ all day and the minute i pulled up and get out of the car the wind drops. 2 guys packed up - they said 'it was howling and dropped out". The tide was coming in and i thought the seabreeze would kick any minute so rigged the 5.8 - bad move. Glugged for a while and the cross onshore winds meant that reaching was away from the launch area. I ended up approx 1 km downwind near the semaphore jetty. Too smaller sail and fin it took alot of glugging and walking to get back. When i got back the wind picked up for one run and then i called it a day. Mental note:- when sailing off the coast sail with enough canvas up, bigger fin and don't go too far downwind. Tomorrow looks okay - might have another go. Fanatic falcon 89 / 2009 ka koncept 5.8 and 32cm c3 venom. Semaphore beach - 12 - 15 knots. |
