Lake Connewarre, good wind, slowly learning to gybe the board better, just got to work on better entry and exit speeds, to boost the alpha up a bit more. Wanted a better nm, oh well next time,

lowish tide at the lake and I probably wont bother again until I get a weed fin. Even the 28 choco was no good and water starting was almost impossible without  picking up weed. There was about a kilo of weed on the fin after each run. Torquay is lookin real good on the next southerly....
Started a list of crapest sessions ever while walking back and this one ranked pretty high.

all speeds doppler on the gt31

Quick squirt after work. Thought id try something different and took the missile out for a spin. Had 1 decent powered up run and the rest of the time just a great blast in the sun.

Add to your crappest session Tony. Your spare GPS unit now resides on the bottom of the lake. The new aquapack thingy from Anaconda only had a clip which broke off. I heard it fall off and thought that it would float. Couldn't see it anywhere so I marked the spot with my boom stuck in the mud and fetched goggles and a snorkel. Spent an hour or so in a grid search pattern to no avail but it is surprisingly good snorkelling, lots of little fish and plenty of weed!!!!

Ah well looks like an order for two new GPS's on the cards.

Hey Frant - I think my trusty 201 has bitten the dust , better make that 3 GPS's - wonder if we get a bulk discount?

Should have a shiny new GT31 tomorrow...and a new paqua. so will Red. I might just decline on the borrowed gear as it just costs too much to replace.

Grant, I ordered them from RPS in Elwood, They arrived this morning by post...excellent service and price but I think they were the last that they had in stock. Worth giving them a buzz.

Fran how much rope do you reckon we'll want, might have some 70mm poly.

Jaques, 10 seconds @ 50 knots.... that would be about 250 metres. Maybe we could start with a bit less and work on designs.

I actually spent most of yesterday evening along the windward edge of the big weed bed after experimenting with my old GPS in an aquapack, it floats. I figured Tony's must be floating around somewhere. Still couldn't find it but I did some "grooming" of the floating weedmass. I reckon we can cut a track about 2 metres wide at the exact course angle required and use the rope at the windward boundary to keep it open.

You are probably too young too remember the breakwater that was built at Yarra St pier from old car tyres before they built the yacht club marina. We can probably use the floating weedmass instead of tyres with the added advantage (I think) that the weed exudes an oil which further reduces wavelets.

Just had to post this right away. Went to go for a sail today Saturday 27 February and right in my launch path washed up in the weeds was the lost GPS unit. Washed down the pack, plugged in the power and downloaded the results. 24.406 2 sec max and 1 x 10 sec run at 23.467. Not a drop of water inside the phone pack and unit works perfectly. Pick it up any time Tony!!!! and I am off for a sail now.
