wally world. Big turnout. Windy to start with- on 7.0m which was a bit big in the gusts so changed down to 6.2m. Got one sweet gust. Thought it was faster :) Not as windy as Saturday but water much flatter (and shallower). Loads of PBs today for the crew... where do we start? SP53, KA 23S. woohooo, now I can really say I hit a 45kt 2 sec. Goal for summer done.

Quick blast after wk. Ado had talked up wally world after slowes efforts last week.
I found rocks and nasties and slashed my feel luckily no fin damage. Tide was very low and receeding.
I was not brave enough to follow the ado and slowie close to the shore and tempt fait. Need to get some balls obviously.

Our mate the Freo Doctor has been in a ferocious mood lately, and today smashed through Perth bringing 30 knots even to Wallyworlld, which is half in a wind-shadow. It's 40-45 at Rotto as type this.

It was great to see so many keen speedsters out on a Tuesday arvo too.

With the trusty Manta 49 and KA/CL 23 fi I initially rigged the 6.3 but with a half-dodgy foot decided that it was all a bit hairy in the gusts, so wussed out and changed to the 5.7. Was underpowered 95% of the time but the gusts were LUUURRRVLEY, and the water pretty flat provided you were prepared to risk death in the perilously shallow depth.

I have only had three 40+ peaks ever before and today had around ten 40's and three 41's - so pretty damned stoked about that. The only time I have gone faster is at Sandy Point, and that place is a picnic compared to Wallyworld!

Congrats to the many PB getters, and massive respect yet again to the SLOW ONE. You remain so far ahead of the pack it's scarcely believable, and you just continue to amaze us all!

Oh, nearly forgot; the day ended in a massive stack; spinout into instant crash...through sail...two holes in board...several holes in self. I will be sore tomorrow but I don't care!

Second attempt to post - must have timed out.

Got to Walter abt 5, rigged 5.7 Koncept 2010, CA SP47 with 26 Tectonic Falcon. Underdone at first - then the breeze booted up a bit as predicted. Whacked a rock with the fin and made it a 25 with a hairy tip. Was about to go in and change to the 28 but a big gust came through so I went for it and got a 42.6 on the display so I left the now 25 in and filed it down with swan river shells to make it as hydrodynamic as I could.

Heavy traffic at Walter buit a good vibe - Slowey was masterful with his fancy sail with a hole in the clew!

Well done to Elmo and Snides for theit efforts at hadies - well done - contemplated it it but opted for the 5 minute drive home!

The world is now watching SRM and they know it, and there's an international cup to be wonWink And lets face it there's been some decent wind at last and therefore the talent can shine, yes we get lots of wind but mostly averaging 15 to 23 kts, rarely ever a true 30kts or more.  Yes we get a dozen 20 to 30 kt forecasts a month in summer, but thats for Rottmest, raely ever gets that near perth.

Slowy - it's nothing a bunch of large bandaids and some Voltaren won't help, plus I get to wear thongs with my business attire for at least another week!

Well done to you and Snides for remembering to peel off some Alphas BTW - with three categories pretty well covered, we can now safely turn attention to NMs, hours and distance.

...and nice work Craig on two, and realistically three PBs in one sesh! See, it helps when you actually go sailing!!

Well done to all the SRMers who PBed yesterday, especially the 40K debutants.

And Slowie showing us all how it's done as usual.  Is 45 the new 40?

Ado I feel your pain...trashed my Maui carbon boom and broke a batten in my brand new 6.4 Koncept yesterday...speedsailing can be an expensive business!

Slowboat

spewing about the boom Greg. Lucky it wasnt your limbs though. I broke heaps of booms when I was first getting into the speed mission on fast gear. After a while you crash less and less. (touch wood).

Chris, agreed, I'd rather trash kit than break limbs!

I'd got 12 months out of that boom, which is a pretty good innings by my standards, I average one a season.
