Really big hangover makes pretty small speeds. I am too old to play up like that on Sat nights, destroys me. Good to have a sail but.

Lots of Pit crew here today and a few visitors. All expecting some good speed sailing but the wind did not swing WSW until quite late when the tide was rushing in and many people had packed up. The whoopdedoos were severe but a few 30 knots gusts made some nice runs. Then it died out again. :-(
Sailed with 5.7m Koncept at first on CA50 with Lessacher 25cm weed fin for a 38.5kt peak. Nice sailing upwind and very stable. No hint of spin out at all. Maybe not really a full on speed fin but it performed very well indeed. I doubt if I would have gone much or any faster on a conventional speed fin in those conditions.
Switched to CA40 and 5m Koncept when the wind changed. All the fastest runs were done on that combo. Only one good run at the start of the wind shift and the rest just under 40.
Nice to finally get some good wind, however brief it lasted. :-)

Yeeeehaaaaarrr!!! Finally cracked the big four zero! So happy Smile. Wasn't sure that I had initially as my case had fogged up and I couldnt' read the numbers properly Frown.

The wind was mostly really west today and mostly not very strong, and the run quite bumpy. Kind of lucky to get out early and get a couple of good runs to myself with a squall, before the run chopped up, with a bit more south in the wind, and before the tide started to roll in. By the time the others got out it had dropped a fair bit, gone back west and the run chopped up. Later when some wind came back in the woopdedoos required a fair amount of butt clenching.

Big, big thanks to all the PiT crew team for so much help over my 15 months in the team - always very generous with time and loads of helpful advice. Thanks also to Warren Francis in Fiji for valuable help with my stance.

Lorch DivS 63L, KA 20cm assy, 09 5m KA Koncept and 09 5.8m Koncept. Also some runs on John's Starboard Sonic 85L.

Good fun at the pit for me today - fastest run was my first - just after front hit in the morning.  Spent all day on carbon art sl58 and stealth 6.5m and swapped betwee 29 and 33 fin.  Found to my delight the yanakie chanel un-inhabited by anyone else and stayed there to knock out second half of one hour - then thought I'd do a NM so sailed all the way back to dunes and then did downwind back to Yanakie boat ramp - got it a new pb!!  Thought it was definitely going to be over 30 but no such luck - got some more work to do on my setup.  Love the CA in the choppy stuff - feels very safe and gybes nicely too!

Hope Spotty backs be up with a one hour and mile......

Rigged 5.7Koncept thinking the wind would increase, but had to switch to 6.6 as the wind went up n down and round and round.

Conrats to Muffin Man getting to 40, good work!!, just have to do it for 10 and 20 sec's in better conditions and you will earn another badge!

Good PB work too John!

Area 45 today as i had work in the morning so i missed most of the bank. The incomming tide made a mess of the water, chop every where and no straight swell lines. But it was a sail. Started on the CA40 with the 6.6,not the ideal combo but the 5.8 is yet to return to the trailer. Way over powered to oooooh crap and i came in just before a 30kt rain squall and changed to the 5.0. A bit underpowered but got a nice jump comming back up wind to eventually the walk of shane but to the car. Good fun chasing Mick,Doug and crew around the water, might have to start charging them for parking. Locals only!!! KissWink

Well done Peter, fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mmm Liver damage, more just a thumping headache and no energy. Big night at the Edgey, couldn't get my Wife to go home I think she wanted to punish me.

I frigged around rigging and missed the front when it first came through. It was pretty windy but probably only 2 runs in it before it dropped off alot. Peter and ADO the only 2 to be on the water for it.  I rigged the 5.4 KaRace but by the time I hit the water I needed a 6.4. I stayed on the 5.4 with the LM medium  as I wanted to see how it went but was really underpowered going deep. Changed to a 6.4 Koncept but it was even dodgy on that for a while. Decided to quit fairly early as the tide was rushing in causing some tricky waves on the coarse and I just wasn't in a state to be speed sailing. As I was leaving a few fronts came through and it finally swung WSW so Daffy and Matthew got some pretty good runs

Definitely something in Petes's muffins I had heaps of energy after having one so I was fine flying the Red Rocket home. Whats the secret Peter, a herb I suspect!!!!!

Thanks to all for the kind words. I have to say though that I reckon that there would be four times as many in the 40+ club if everyone in the GTC had a local like the PiT (clearly one of the best speed runs in the world) and a crew of some of the fastest speed sailors in the world as tutors! But thanks again, it still feels bloody good. Bring on the next 30+ WSW day at the PiT!!

Thanks fellas. I was following Brad and Spotty up the inlet on the 6.4 and SL55 and scored a nice gust all the way. 1 foot high chop though for most of it!
