Seahorse (2144km): Made a few wrong decisions today. First one was getting up at 5:25 and yet still missing the first squall of the day where great speeds were possible... Second one was following Luca to the dark side of the dune during a 1 hour attempt and ending up floundering. Third was going out for a distance run in the middle of the day and going too far downwind (but yielded a reasonable NM). Fourth was not bringing bananas or going home for a rest half way through - ran out of energy. Had no strength left to finish the job. Fastest run was last run on the slalom board. Few good runs on the CA 44 early in the day - happy with how the board goes with a 6.5 up!! Great to see all the crew from FNQ, WA and NSW and even the Connewarre boys! Saw some very synchronized looking shiny new 2011 KA sails tearing it up as I left. Sure someone would have cracked a few 40s....???? Sorry I couldn't back you up on the distance Kato - soft office worker am I!!
kato (15334km): First bit of real wind for a while, thanks to Snides and Bender for leaving Vic and having our normal wind return Lots of very keen folk at dawn rigging small gear. Went speed sailing on the 40 and the 5.8 untill the tide started pushing the bumps way up the course. Not very powered up with the 5.8 but the 40 just goes slower with the 6.6. Switched to distance with the 52 and 6.6 at high tide, tracking across the east bank chasing swell lines. Couldn,t encourage anyone else to join me for what was a great lot of fun. Drifted down to "B' for a change when the bank got a bit shallow with Mal. Finished the day with some more speed, just could find a good gust to nail a 40. Well done to all who did. Nice fun day with all the Speedfortnight crew which finished at 1am. Might have to issue some sandpaper to the crew for "Office" hands
Peter Johnston (5021km): Long but fun day at the Pit. First to arrive and rigged up by about 6am and on the water by first light, just in time for a good squall. Had a long break in the middle of the day due to full tide but didn't end up finishing sailing until nearly 7pm! Good to see so many out on the water including heaps of interstaters and Dave from across the dutch. Back home in Melb now after a very enjoyable two weeks at speed fortnight! Great to catch up with so many familiar and new faces! No alpha posted yet as I can't extract it from realspeed yet.
