A busy Pit today, with the Eden crew,WA guys and two" wave sailors" from Geelong joining the regulars for a nice sunny days sailing. It took the wind a bit to fill in so started with some Alpha,s and a 1hr but after pulling a 39.8peak on the Sl 52 with a venom 30 it was time to go fast on some speed gear. A bit hit and miss for a while and lucked onto a good gust with Spotty. (Only a few kts slower) By the time the wind really filled in, the tide was on its was back in with it whoop d doos down the course. Starting to get overpowered so for the last few runs i ran 10kg in the weight jacket. Made a big difference in the chop and i must remember to use it more often. Alpha,s done on the Sl52,C3 30,Ka 5.8, Speed on Ca40,Ka/Loc 20,Ka 5.8

Good day at Sandy Point with quite a few out. Nice to meet "25" and "stringer" from WA and to catch up with Chris A again. Congrats on the excellent PB Nick!! I hope the quick trip over was worth it. Good to see Garry and Simon from Eden back again, and Red and "Stacey" from Geelong - go easy on those Malibus tonight Stace! Tongue out

Not much wind when I arrived at about 11.30am. Rigged the new 11 5.0m Koncept. Had a couple of 38/39 runs then ended up down the wrong end when a good squall came through. Got back up the top to just catch a bit of the tail end of it - but spun out 3/4 of the way down the run at just over 40knots. Managed to unhook and jumped off the back for a fairly smooth landing. Must learn to be a bit more gentle on the little speed fins - that one was a C3 Slingshot 19cm and according to Kato and Foxy who saw me lose it, it wouldn't be fair to blame the fin. After that the tide began to rush in and the run got very bumpy. Some were still getting fast runs but not me. I should have changed to the longer KA 20cm assy earlier for a bit more grip in the rolling swell - I'll know better next time. Sadly the best wind really kicked in later in the afternoon - from about 4.30pm onwards it was probably up to a steady 30knots or so.

Well done to the other Pit crew who got much better speeds!

Lorch DivS 63L with 19cm Slingshot then 20cm KA assy and 2011 KA Koncepts 5.0m and 4.4m.

Well it has certainly been a while and I was very, very rusty and mighty unfit. Must get the a,,se out from behind the computer more.

Well done Kato, wearing that weight would make a huge difference for you as it takes advantage ofyour height.

Great to see so many Speedies, with the three Amigo's dropping in for a day trip from WA, as you do!

In the end happy to just scrape in a 40 kn av.

New sails felt good but as AMAC pointed out to me I was sailing too big. When I chuched up his 5 I went faster. If I had only done that earlier!!!

Love muss small, 2011 KA Koncepts 5.8 and 5.0, Ka 21.5 Speed Assy

Another session, another sweet 500m run av of 45.7, but wind was playing games with angle and strength all day, and was hard to luck onto some of the smaller gusts after the bigger squall earlier having us peak just under 47.  Some of WA's finest graced our sand pit  and left with Smile all round, good to catchup though short.   Well done Kato, starting to break new ground and put to use some of your height.

New 2011 Koncept 5.8 did the job straight out of the bag with Ka23 Asym on 95Ltr CL SP53.

Extra fun day at the PiT with fun crew.

The wind was a bit of a mixed bag of tricks, coming from different angles at different strengths - kept it interestingTongue out

An unusual day. I struggled all day to find the groove and get my setup right. Conditions kept changing which made it hard. I think I finally got it close to right at the end of the day but by then the tide was rushing in and I was stuffed. Maybe losing 5kg was not such a great idea after all. Undecided

Started trying for a 1 hr. Got to 35 mins and saw the squall coming. Abort, abort... get speed gear quick. Smile So much for the 1 hr. Didn't try for an Alpha and was pleasantly suprised with what I got during the aborted 1hr attempt.

Started on 2011 5m Koncept. Went to 4.4m for a few runs and then back to 5m. CA 40. KA 20 assy speed.

Great to see the other guys doing so well. At one stage I counted 25 boards around the speed course!

Nice work, Kato, sounds like there was a good turn out at the pit. I will have to start saving up my frequent flyers to get back.

Great to see everyones speeds, well done.  That 500m run of yours Spotty is pretty amazing.  What's the fastest 500m at the PiT?

Dave congrats on your Speed Week effort, my previous session in Sept had a 45.4 500 this years and next years sails are definately an improvement.  The fastest 500 at the Pit on a windsurfer is 48.71 on Big Sunday Sept 27 last year, just 0.38 off Antoine Albeau's 49.09 WR.

Wow, 48.71 is even more amazing (well done)!!  The gear does seem to be improving, as you say, no doubt allowing for some insane speeds in the future when the conditions are right.  Hopefully a little easier also now, given the same conditions, than even just a couple of years ago.

Congrats on all the speed guys. Pete, didn't take you long to get some use out of the new 5.0. I just tried my new 5.8 and it feels great.
