Adrian Vos (1685km): Kyeemagh, NSW, AU KA72 Link: http://www.ka72.com/TrackRecalc.aspx?fid=11675 (used the GPS distance as I forgot to turn logging on for the first couple of runs) Nice day today... a bit gusty and bumpy and up and down... not as good as last Sunday, but still good. Unfortunately I damaged my Hellcat 6.2 last week, and it is still in for repair. So I splurged and bought a 07 NP RS Slalom 5.8 second hande for $300 yesterday, and used that. I expected it to be similar in power to the 6.2, but it was more like a 5.5 in feel (which actually suits my quiver well), so I was fairly underpowered for most of today slogging about and not really comfortable as I was hanging forward off the rig. But I did get a couple of good gusts (like literally 2!! Was not lucking it with the wind today)... my fastest was just before I came in... which was funny as I then struggled to get back. Just a freak gust that gave me a good 2s... and it was choppy too... just pointed off the wind in the middle as I was as powered up as I had been all day. I feel the potential for this sail to go to mid 30s in the right conditions. I also was reminded why most people don't use race sails. It was alot more work to sail with the wide luff cambered sail. It was OK when powered up, but heavier for sailing moderately powered, and not as nice for feeling the wind strength, and more difficult to gybe and water start. I prefer the hellcat for the sailing today, but I think it will be good in a good 30knot NEster. Also, I could not get enough downhaul by hand, and had to borrow Des's pulley. Will need to organize something for myself. Saw Des out there... He looked like he was having alot of fun going quicker than me most of the time as he was rigged bigger (and smarter!!). Cheers, Adrian

Nice sail on Port Stephens. Board was too big for the conditions that were quite choppy so I went for distance. Happy with the distance but disappointed with the speed.
