Fun sail at Hawley. Peak was on JP 60, took the Speed board out at the end when the wind picked up but the tide was too high and getting really choppy.

Dorans, TAS, AU

A good day at Doran's.  Wind was up and down to start, but had some nice scuds coming through from the NW.  First good run was 38.68 knots.  Then got a 39.87 and then a 40.47.  Starting to push into difficult/dangerous territory though, as despite it being reasonably flat, it's still Doran's!  Then the wind just kicked in solid for about an hour.  At least 35 knots, gusting to 40.  Chop picked up, but the angle was good for runs down the line.  Managed a 37.8 in pretty hairy conditions.  Steve was out as well and got a good run in almost lifting off conditions.  Board and rig felt so awesome today, rock solid.  Finally a 40 knot, doppler 2 second at Dorans!!

Well done Jez!!  You were hooting!!

Dorans, TAS, AU. Great fun sail at Dorans. Cannot beleive there was hardly anyone there. It came in soooo windy for about 30 minutes, I wanted to change down sail size but I couldnt even get the gear out of the water, it must have been a solid 40 knots. Well done Jez, you have finally cracked the 30 knot barrier. Amazing what a cambered sail can do, I think it was the first time you have used that sail. Also you did on the 111 in some really windy conditions, awesome effort. Dave I was watching you when I was rigging up and you looked ridiculously fast. Then you told me you did a 39.8, followed by your 40.5. Huge well done in those conditions you were really going for it. I was using the 09 86 Isonic (love that board), 6.2 Reflex (love that sail) and my new C3 32cm fin (love that fin).

Sounds like not as much wind as forecast for Hawley, but good speeds never-the-less.  Doran's was about as good as it can get in terms of wind direction for speed (coming from the police academy), with the speed runs done heading back to the carpark and the fastest sections being near that pole with the cross on it.

Yes a new spot record Cam!!  Kazza, you will love the 86 Slim!!

 Dave thats huge for Dorans

Not much wind on the East Coast today a few big gusts went through but not worth rigging for. Met Nathan at Swanick teaching his kids on one of the start boards, they were going well having some fun.

Here's a photo of Steve just coming in after doing a run - he got a 36 on that run.  Not exactly flat water and you need to be committed (to the run), as you can't easily slow down or change your line once you get up to top speed.  Best runs of mine were in less wind and flatter water, but still managed a 37.8 in these conditions when I went back out after taking this photo.  You had to find a lull and go for it, rather than find a gust.

Awesome photos Jez. Now I can get some appreciation of what you guys achieved getting anything over 30knots, let alone 40knots in such rough water. Amazing stuff!!
