Fun day but very gusty turbulent wind and choppy so difficult to go fast. There was no smooth power so struggling to get settled. Very enjoyable though and sunny and even warm enough for a summer suit. My parents turned up for a sail and mother was going well on a 4.2. Had the old X7 boom on the 7m and it felt a little flappy. Wind started to die around lunchtime so was glad with the early start. Hopefully more wind forecast later this week.

Nice to get back on S/Westerlies,Got my warp 58 wet for 1st time, perhaps needed a bit more wind but not bad 1st time out.

It has been a while since I have had a session that was as awful as today. Rigged my 7m and kode with mid downhaul at 8am, after a few runs I could see a split where I had repaired it last week. It was perfect weather for the 7m, overpowered and I was just settling into it.

Went in and rigged the 7.6, could hardly hold it down in the gusts! Didnt think the 6.3 would be enough in the lulls. Went in and changed down to my mistral and it took the 7.6 well, had a few good runs and went in for a break. The wind was really up and down at this point. Decided to rig my 6.5 gator for some easy fun and gybe practice. Those rotational sails are rubbish now!!! It had a life of its own.

Went back out with the 7.6, had a few more runs and called it a day. Cant decide whther to trade in the 7m for a new sail or try and get it repaired.

Was expecting to be sailing 5.8 on the slalom board, disappointing when I got to the beach and had to rig 6.5 and take the FSW out. The 6.5 was enough for a short while mid session otherwise a little light. A nice session in the sunshine.

Super day at the Kirb, great to be on speed kit again, tried lots of kit out today but ended up on falcon speed and RS6 again, used weight jacket today and it definitely gave me more speed, had about 5KG of lead and I could sail with that all day. Staying for more wind tomorrow but SSW?

Painful toll on the body after not having sailled for over a month due to exams, cut feet and blistered hands... wind picked up a few times, the majority of the time was able to handle the sail with a few gusts just holding on. all in all a good days sailling

Good going boys would have liked to got out but stabbed myself in the arm with a knife so no sailing for a week.....

look forward to Yorkie and The Matrix posting from Kirby.

What happened to holding that 7.6 down in 28 knots then Lea? Laughing

Anyway well done.......

Holding it down in GUSTS of 28 is fine, which is what I said in my blog post. Holding it down in constant 28 gusting to 32 is a bit tricky, but doable. It was better on the mistral with a smaller fin, too much tail lift with the 37select but good with the 34.

Thought you were going to use some clingfilm and ducktape? Or are you saving that for tomorrow?
