Great afternoon. I've never sailed NW at Melville - some great runs deep into the bay on very flat water. Got picked up and slammed twice by a couple of bullets while on the big board, nothing damaged though. Great to see so many out an unusually mild end of May day.

4969 days ago Procrastinated, missed the short period of good wind at Melville and should have gone with my gut which was to sail the coast.
Good to have a gasbag with a bunch of the crew.

A bit more wind would have been nice.
Or even if it came in 15 minutes earlier... (it came in just as you left Lao!)
But it was still a pleasant Sunday afternoon sail.
Good to see lots of pals again.

Got down there at 3 and it was pretty light, around 12-15K.
Rigged the 8.5 Koncept + 135 XFire + 46 LE weedie and hit the water around 3.30, but it had dropped to only 10-12K and I couldn't even get planing.
Came in and had a yarn to Danijel for a while. Decided to flag it and went to collect my kit from well down the beach. After the obligatory walk of shame I noticed the breeze had filled in some. Went for a run out to the island and I was well overdone on the big board.
Plugged in the Futura 111 + 40 choco weedie and went for a few more naughty mile runs out to the island and back. Great fun blasting downwind through the rollercoaster swells.
Could've handled some more TOW, but it was getting dark and I was the only one out by this stage.
Really pleased I got a sesh in, it was shaping up as a skunking til late in the day.

Had a few good runs in about 18 knots on the south side (opposite to usual) of the north point.
Avoiding a kite during my fastest run and resulting catapult ended up in Royal Perth Plastic Surgery getting my lip sewn back together.
Board got a bit locked in with the weedy fin.
A good half hour though.
