Melville Beach, WA, AU

7.8m, Mistral screamer 140litre/85cm wide, Cl custom fin from 2004. Well powered up at times... good crew to play with. Choppy as hell at times. But the big board was eating it for lunch. Mission for the day was to get 35 on the dial on the big board. That happened pretty early and ended up hitting that mark a few times. Lit up for a NM attempt. That was awesome fun. Totally burnt by the end of it.

Melville Beach had a ball started out on the CA70/7.8/talon42 combo on a very smooth river (hence the nm),wind then swung true sw and kicked so went the trusty iso86 rsr6.7 f124 combo (still my all time favourite)as the river turned to moguls a pruduct of the wind shift and chop from 2 dfferent directions, still managed to fined a little flat water up in the bay for a few decent peaks, good crowd on the water.

nice work Team.

I'm having a lot of fun sailing the big board. There were some solid 25kt+ gusts coming through at Melville, and the only way to keep it together was to bear off fully sheeted in. Since this board is a freeride shape, it has a lot of V and really tucked rails, so its quite safe to go full power downwind in the chop. There were a few moments of being so powered up at 35kts that if the wind picked up any more I would have catapaulted. But thats what makes it so much fun. Not knowing how windy the bullets are going to be, and where the limit is... Its the same feeling as speedsailing in chop with way more wind going way faster. But its a lot more accessible using the big gear. Good practice I guesss!!

Chris, great to read how you do it, but should probably contain some sort of health warning for the rest of us Laughing
