Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU 12-18knt westerly Very low tide butter smooth

F2 SX68, RSR 7.8m, 34FO weedster

Really nice blast in the hour window i had for a sail. Low tide meant it was super smmmmmoooooooth. No real bear aways as it was dead square.

Great fun all the same.

Australind, 7.5m koncept, 122l futura, 40cm carbonated weedie. Muppetism; New word for the oxford english dictionary; to be included next to Elmoed. To boldly go where no idiot has gone before, or to make an easy job look hard!

On my previous trip to Glory holes I had a brilliant day although it cost me a pair of good polarised sunnies. The cost was overlooked by the smile from such a great day. Yesterday proved an entertaining day as I rigged for around 12 to 15 knots. I sailed away from the boat ramp powered up well and looked with a bit of trepidation at the clouds quickly rolling in across the estuary. When the squall hit it became obvious that I'd have to drop the gear and wait it out. No problems, there was sufficient wind behind the squall to keep heading down the estuary, but the new sunnies were starting to fog up and make it difficult to see the few obstacles that were there. As I headed back to the boat ramp the water looked smooth and grabbing the sunnies off my head I kept them in my left hand,(starboard tack). Just before initiating the gybe I realised the glasses would be an issue, so I grabbed them in my teeth. Clever bugger am I, I thought. I might mention at this time that I talk myself through my gybes, You know, front arm straight, footwork etc, and amazed myself with one of the smoothest and fastest gybes on bigger gear (for me) that has happened recently, so much so that I actually said YESS, after getting back into the footstraps (thereby opening my mouth and losing yet another pair of sunnies) So if anyone in the area is looking for a new pair of shades, forget about kmart and the chemist etc, just hang around Australind boat ramp on a westerly and do your shopping there  WinkSmile
