ratz (2075km): Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU iso 94 7.0 reflex 2 31 elmo speed weed. a good frontal session water a bit choppy for good speeds but not bad. finally got the right mast for the reflex. the difference it made in sail performance was amazing.
Hardie (20239km): Boundary Island, Peel Estuary, WA, AU Gusty
Tomski (6938km): Decrepit's Beach, 6.7 CR, 76 Iso, 27 LE.
I'm back!! Woke up pumped for a sail. Down to the estuary wondering where the wise ones sail on a NW. Instructed by a gentleman on a pie run to head to Decrepit's local. Great advice, after some ums and ahhs rigged up and blew the cobb webs out!! Enjoyable sail with Decrepit, but I think I'll feel it in the morning (first sail in nearly 6 months). Congrats on the PB's Ratz. Didnt need the 9.0m today
Elmo (15665km): JP Slalom VI 65, NP RSS Mk IV 7.0m JP Weed 31cm, Started work at 5 this morning still couldn't knock of til 4, got a call from Bendyman saying where the hell was everybody???? Hardies was looking good for some runs across the bay. Got down there, and saw Bender with a bit of board slapping not a good sign being underpowered and way down wind, then about 5 mins later the wind picked up and Benderman was able to get back up wind then just as the Bent one was about 500m from shore Huey let fly with a monster squall which had me shocked as Bender had to fight hard to control it then crash, what shocked me even more was looking back to the boat ramp was thet ball tearer squall's big ugly sister bearing down on the Bent one, all I coukld do was pin down my gear and hide behing the trailer whilst Bender had to sit that one out in the water. Eventually Bender got back to shore when some of the ugly had moved on and reported that it was crap, oh joy, oh well I'm here, I'm rigged, and I'm uglier than the squalls, time to go out. Some nice gusts out there, a few holes and a few bullets, got some nice runs across, Bender went in I did another then came back was about to go agqain when there was some more lightening, tail between my legs I went in to talk to Bender, just as well as the ugly cousing came and gave us a nice whiteout. when that was over, went out again got some very nice runs, 2 legs over and back was enough for me sailing by myself in an offshore breeze. Whole lot of fun, a few Yeaharghs, a bit of freckle excersize, no damage no bruises, it's all gold Great sailing with Benderman who may be of the water with Nº2 about ready to make an appearance
Decrepit (22059km): 5.3 Avalon Sail, 53cm board. 23 lockwood fin looked great out here, so rigged my wife up first, but she was back in before I got out, wind had just a bit too much North in it for her to really enjoy it. By the time I hit the water wind had picked up and I was fully powered with the 5.3, but overpowered with the board and fin. Would have been OK with dead flat water, but the tide was a bit high and swell was coming over the reef. Got a wobble up on one mini ramp, ended up with back foot off the board going sideways. That was a tad disconcerting! Fortunately got my foot back in the rear strap and straightened the board up without going over the handlebars.

Bender (19030km): Hardies Run, WA, AU F2SX68, ReflexII 7.0m, 36 F2 pointer Now i know Hardies run is crap in a NW. if i had not been in meetings all day in our Perth office i could have sailed Glory Holes with Ratz and cranked some speed. Thw wind was really gusty and way too up and down to really go fast. The reflexII continues to impress me with its range ans control. It was stable as today. |
