Tricky (3458km): CA101 Koncept 5.8 30Select weed Stansbury tide was too high & it was bumpy up to 1-2 ft chop but mainly 12" was a great sail as I knocked back work just got settled in today on the gear first time it all came together so now I can do a bit mre tuning when the conditions are good. I hope PJ posts some good numbers , Hope I helped
Carl Macdonald (18593km): Another fun after work sesh at Semaphore beach. Semaphore beach - 15 - 25 knots. Fanatic falcon 102 / 6.3m loft blade and 35cm sl7.
PJ (9987km): 23-11-11 Lake George SSE 12-30 knots-7.8 and 6.3m Loft Blade-Fanatic SL111-MFC Weed 40cm OMFG on the water by 6am, blown out by 2pm! Aim was for 400kms..... Water levels have dropped and the middle lake would be unsailable without a weed fin IMHO. I was sailing through a gap from the main lake to middle and it looked scary shallow. My attitude was if I stack I stack and didn't look below to see how shallow or weedy it was when sailing down-wind through this gap. The speed guys would have had smiles ear to ear as there were long sections of speed flats!! Started with 7.8 and on a weed fin I'd never used before and kept going downwind and downwind and downwind. WTF. Admittedly the wind was light. Tweeked mast track forward and let down haul off. Wind continued to fill in and started having to muscle the 7.8 through gybes. Came in at 1030 am and changed down to 6.3m. No other smaller weed fin so out I go. Wind continued to fill. Tweeked downhaul, outhaul but by 2pm I ran out of gas as wind was beyond my comfort zone. The 40cm weedy I think felt draggy with 6.3m. Another moot point was the weedy fin had weed on it on 6 odd times - would be nightmare without!! About 7 hours sailing time. Today Lake George had the better of me! I'll be back
Jimbob (11323km): Jump city on my new board, Beachport, SA, AU from surfbeach, SE 20 to 25, onshore but favouring port tack jumps. JP 92 FSW pro, standard fin, 4.7 ezzy wave. On bloody night shift again, Sorry PJ I didn't get out the lake but I had alredy planed to sail in the surf and try my new board. PJ you need a smaller sail. Tricky well done on the pb's. see you have some weedys now. loved the Jp fsw was great to gybe and good speed without being too fast and still good to steer around in the surf and done some huge airs.
sailed again today but no gps on as was a bit wild. Surfbeach 28 to 32 SE with some bigger gusts, new board and started on a 4.2 but had to go to the 3.5 as was absolutely smoking. done a few runs out the back but spent more time in the air then on th water so just stayed in the surf one again. the spit would have been a bit stronger today and 40's would have been on offer easily as well as nm's. hope to get the same breeze on days off as just don't have the energy on nights.
