4748 days ago The sonic 100 died today. RIP. At least it went out with a bang yesterday at the photo shoot.
Wondered what the clonking sound was as I was sailing and found a big delam under the mast foot.
What an awesome board it has been and has done about 7.5K KM.
However a string of 23 alphas before I realised and boy does the 6.3 gybe sweetly!
Thanks to Pointman for the loan of the x-fire 90.
Good team turn out.
Wind picked up at the end and went back out on the Lorch. NM, 2sec and ave on the Lorch.

Gusty 18 to 20 knot wind - ended up stripping half a metre of ply and glass off the bottom of the board at the mid-section when I hit something.
Who is the best person to ask for advice on board repair?
Isonic 76, Code Red 6.1, Black Project 26.5 (a bit small today in the heavy shop)
Happy Christmas to all.

4748 days ago Fun sesh at Safety Bay to wrap up my working year
Freeway traffic was atrocious, detoured onto Rocky Road and got down there by 3.
On the water at 3.30. Saw Mark zooming around on his new 6.3 when I arrived, and I got a steady 20-25K on the anemometer, so I rigged the 6.6 TR7. Mark came in and told me it wasn't that windy, so I unplugged the 90 XFire and plugged in the Futura 111 + 36 JP weedie.
First hour on this combo was average. Barely cracked 30K and my Pengo's run only yielded a 27.3 naughty.
Came in and switched to the Cervantes combo...90 XFire + 7.6 TR7 + 34 weedster.
More joy on this combo. Breeze was still only 18-22K, but I was mostly well-powered and I got most of my numbers on this set-up. Still underpowered on the bearaways down the beaver, but I did another Pengo's run for the 29K naughty and went for a few alphas. Bar was too choppy and I got my best alphas in the Pond.
All in all a fun sesh and now I'm ready for the weekend with the family . Unfortunately I won't be able to escape for a sail Sat/Sun, despite the best forecast this season....Huey you're a cruel mistress

If I'd know all it took to crack 40kts was to bust a mast....
Was just starting to get things dialled in, first decent sail on the 102XFire with 7m CR. Mast track: check. Harness lines: check. Boom height: check. Wind filling in nicely: check. Wife at home with bottle of Champagne: check.
SNAP
Lucky for me there was a boat at hand or I was heading for the freeway. Thanks boatie! Dropped me right in close to shore.
And amazingly the Champagne seemed to bring on a "c'est la vie" moment when I told mt precious what the replacement cost was. Woohoo!

Struggled with the weed fin today, spent most of the day feeling as though i was sailing sideways.
good to meet jake and many thanks to mark for lending me fins and bolts!
Sorry to witness the passing of Marks sonic, certainly done stirling service, there wont be many boards in the world that have travelled further!

4746 days ago Mettams to sorrento, bit more wind than yesterday, still a bit patchy. 5.8 79l.
Had a couple of nasty moments when I saw black fins in the water a few hundred metres out, managed to convince myself it was a dolphin (very swept back curvy fin). And jybed near other people (a few sea kayaks going downwind so I figured jybing near them improves the odds). only dropped two the whole sail - thats what seeing some fins in the water can do for you.
