Dan_P (4440km): Sandy Point, Vic, AU Headed to the Pit today for what will probably be my last major sail before heading back to work on Monday (based on the forecast).... but when has work ever stopped me before!! Willyweather got the tides wrong by 2 hrs so had to wait for about 45 mins before i could get in. A heap of people there, a good mix of holidayer's and regular GPSTCer's. Of course being holiday season you get all sorts there.... thanks heaps to the guy freestyling in the middle of the run and deciding to do a forward in front of me while he was on port tack and i was on starboard going down the run at 30+... where did he expect me to go??? Thats cool you can forward in flat water but seriously there are better places to show off. Started on the Isonic 86slim, 30cm venom and 5.3 kult, got 2-3 runs in before coming in and changing to my 5.9 koyote. Then went for a 1 hr but fell in with 5-7 mins to go and realised i had a big clump of weed on my fin - no wonder i was struggling pointing and going fast. Wind started dying off in the arvo so came in chatted for a bit then went out on the isonic 101 & 6.6 koyote. Eventually the wind came back so got back on the 86sl with a 34 venom for about another 20-30km's to finish the session off. Good fun, highlights - seeing Daffy take out a young fella on the tandem, and Wendy's first sess' with a GPS. Looking forward to her 1st post!! Simmo... where were you??? you put the call out on FB and then didnt turn up yourself!!!
Sav (808km): Sandy Point, Vic, AU Had to wait about 30 mins for the tide before I could get in, and spent most of the day on my usual 5.7 saber + 32cm fin + 105 rocket. The run was nice and flat with quite a lot of W in it in the morning, and gradually got choppier and gusty later. Plenty of sailors but I didn't have any problems with traffic. Changed onto the 6.7 saber late in the day as the wind died down but picked the wrong fin (a swept 32) so I battled to get upwind without spinning out, should have gone bigger. Overall felt very comfortable today with the 5.7 combo and my gybes improved a little, still not planing through them :-(
DazzaJ (3270km): Sandy Point, Vic, AU Fun day at Sandy: 5.2m then went to 5.7, 86 lt iSonic
Drift (5307km): LOCATION: ANGLING CLUB WIND: SW- 15-18kts Am then dropping to <10kts TIDE MID OUTGOING GEAR: CA fr77, C3 VENOM 40, KA KOYOTE 6.6 (2012) DETAILS: Unfortunately some of us had to keep the economy moving so I went to work early. Did the essential stuff then check the readings from Pound Creek and decided that work was finished for the day! I knew that Dan and SAv were at the Pit but I didn't reckon I'd have enough time so I went to the Inlet. Great wind early, and at mid tide I could run the entire strip. As the tide went low it became a bit dicey but the boat ramp end was great!. Mad e afew mods to mast track position and found the sweet spot for the 15-18kt breeze. Good turn out with Tim, Pete, Woody as well as Bondy from the Bonnos. The water was crowded but generally the kiters stayed East of us except for one clown who decided to boost in front of a few of us while we were on starboard down the run. A few quic words from our Enforcer -Postie Pete and the guy stayed away!
Naz (2410km): Inverloch, VIC, AU Rocket 145, KA 7.0 Kult, 48fin Dying wind but happy with the results. I floated around for another 2hrs after everyone else packed up and hit the 20knt mark as the wind picked up from the south. Tide was coming in by then and I gritted my teeth as the sand bars wizzed by underneath. |
