Poor Rob snapped his mast in 3 places 2km out, and long story short, his sail sunk to the bottom of the lake along with his mast base, Spewin!!!! Pete was out doing his thing. Stoked with 8.3 in the gusty conditions sw round to the sse 10 to 15 solid

Settlement Point, Hastings River
Fanatic Skate and 6.5 Firefly. First time Ive sailed at Settlement Pt and I learned a valuable lesson. The Channel rips in a southerly with a funnel effect so it is stronger than most other spots in the area. I couldnt see the wind in the chanel from the rigging zone, rigged for the wind at the launch spot and when I got round into the chanel I saw the Southern fury. Grossly overpowered and was hard to hold the sail. The best speed I got today was actually going upwind to try and kill speed . Should have takn the 5.8 and would have got some better times and speed. Damn choppy in the channel as tide was on the way out so speeding downwind was a disaster when grossly overpowered.....my tracks show a big stack where I was trying to max it but buried into a big chunk of chop and that was the end. Was only out for a short time as I had to get back home to look after the young fella, but as it was I was stuffed after 45mins anyway.
There is a real smooth section near the launch part that I only discovered on my 2nd last run in - it runs along the sand/mudbank that runs around to the chanel, is real shallow but with the tide a bit higher and a run in tide I reckon there could be some PBs there.

4728 days ago 2 categories Sailing club - Wallis Lake SSW- Sth. 20-25k gusting a little more at times.
Second run out on a Fanatic Hawk Ltd. 93l with a 30cm Select supercross fin and running a 6.0m Gaastra GTX. went up a fin size from 28 cm Select super cross fin, as the wind was a bit gusty from the SSW at about 20k - ocassional 25k. slowly shifting direct south. Always seemed to be veering around.Had some nice runs but wind had a lot of holes at times. Tide was too high and water a bit choppy in bits.
A few mates out Aaron( 5.7m Pryde wave sail/custom slalom) , Pete(6.0m Sailworks/ starboard 101 futura) and Jeff(K.A concept5.8/Tabou manta). Not to mention the missus, Chris who had a nice sail today with her 5.5m Gaastra swift and Tabou 104. Good day on water overall. Kiters arrived just as the wind was dropping. I switched to a 6.5m2 GTX and Fanatic falcon 104 with a curtis 34cm weedie, and went back out. Only managed 29.71k 2 sec. peak. Still was good fun. Some awesome speeds being posted out there! Com'on Aussie!
