Clifton Beach, QLD, AU

Awoke this morning to sound of the tree's thrashing and bashing in the house, unfortunatly the wind was from the west makeing sailing from the beach very foolish.

So I rang Cam and we decided to take the boat around to the beach as back up if it all went wrong. From the beach the water looked like glass for the first 100 metres and we were hoping to sail on the wnd line between the flat stuff and the metre high foaming chop about 500 metres out. On the first fun it was obvious that it was not going to be that easy, I was blown off the water 3 times by the 30+ bullits and the chop started with the wind line making control a distant memory.

Still good to get wet again as I havent sailed since the 3rd of January.

Used Cams NP RSr Evo11 7.0 and CAms 91 JP Slalom.

Hard work on the 7.5 in the gusts today. Very patchy wind but the flattish water over the bar was nice. Getting a bit more used to the iSonic now, great board Cool

That really sucks about your board Sausage, have you had any more luck getting a warranty claim on it?

Thanks Firie, not sure how I missed that. Sorry to go over old ground but should there be loose fibres visible after the resin cures? The middle photo shows some long strands. I would have thought that if the fibres were completely wetted it would not look like that!

Squiddy,

Nice numbers and congrats on the PB.

Kel, 30 + bullets  - you should have got a 40 on the dial.  None of this chickening out.  PS - aren't you the captainWink

RE: The board

Have had some lengthy discussions with SB but at the end of the day they are not going to warranty it as the breakage resulted from an "impact" irrespective of (well documented) defects.  I could take it further (i.e. through a small claims process) but this course would not be worth the effort as chasing an international registered company (HK) becomes somewhat difficult and would unrightfully have to involve the retailer. Also I wouldn't really feel comfortable in taking a legal route and it'd just make the already sour taste in my mouth all the more bitter.

Anyway short of the long is SB have offered me replacement at cost + another board at cost.  Whilst not ideal from my perspective as I'll  pay a shit load technically for one board, the second board at cost should make the total transaction the equivalent of paying for 2 boards at full retail cost (but who pays full retail nowadays anyhow).  To be honest I've never had any issues with my other 7 owned SB's so I'm going to put this episode down to bad luck (in getting the board that was made on Friday afternoon in the Cobra factory).  It'll be interesting though if a few more turn up like mine down the track.

Not the greatest outcome Snags but still much better than nothing. I think I'd feel the same about any legal challenge.

Kel, the 107 is a sweet board. Mine's the 2011 model, not sure how much changed for this year. It's my first slalom board so I don't have anything to directly compare it to but it's by far the earliest planing board I've had and easier to go faster while feeling more in control than the old board felt going slower, if that makes sense. Don't know about the king of melvile, haha, a couple of SRM went faster.
