Pelican Point, WA, AU  iso111, v8 7.5, fo42ish

they say what you don't know can't hurt you, well it doesn't mean it won't scare the crap out of you.

Encounter with a massive slab of limestone up wind of Jojo's had me needing to change shorts and do some sanding on the finCry

down at river at 9, wind was swiss cheese, from nothing to 15knt, finally picked up at 10.30 but needed to be home by 11.30, then my run in with slab, still got the shakes. lucky to get out of it with just fin damage. sailors beware.

Pelican Point, WA, AU, iSo94, Reflex7.0, Sl7 35

First run out was the best one. I had put the mast base all the way back this time. Must have worked. I made the mistake to to sail all the way to the other side of the river. That was not a good idea. On the way back I had to navigate massive chop, and with the redusced must foot pressure I had difficulties keeping the board down. This resulted in a few crashes and a lot of swimming. So I was already pretty knackered after the second run. Because of these crashed the mast foot must have slipped all the way forward I found out when I came off the water at the end. This explains why I was so much slower the rest of the session. After the second run I stayed much closer the the point.

I had the Reflex 7.0 out for the second time. As suggested by Troutty I had rigged it on a 430 mast this time  and I had replaced the bottom camber. Much better. I do need to to remove a spacer though. The sail still needed a karate kick to rotate after a gybe. The alpha PB includes this kick so I should be able to improve furtherCool

ROAD TRIP....

Wally world with no-one out so gave that a miss as it looked gusty as usual

Melville with a carpark flowing over the sides managed to get a park and sat and watched for half an hour hearing stories of "should have rigged smaller, Should have plugged a small fin" and after the battering at Peli I decieded to play it safe Isonic 86 Reflex 6.2 Rokit 32

In the end was a bit under done but for once I can accually say "not a bad sail for melville in a sou westerLaughing

Hey Ray Gun, glad to hear the fin was the only damage. That is the reason wetsuits are black (the stains don't show).

I heard a couple of guys talking about the rocks up that way last week when sailing the SE'r. First I'd heard of them but they obviously knew what they were talking about.

Nice alpha Brabo (extra points should be awarded for style because of the karate kick)

Well done on the PB alpha Brabo. I feel for you with the bottom batten kick, I had a 7.8 RS Slalom I had to do that to. Became quite a habit in the end so I hardly noticed itEmbarassed

Hmm, there are no spacers left to take from the bottom cam. I may have to do some filing, or alternatively incorporate this the kick into my gybe. I hope the filing works though...

Safety bay users need to have a look at this!

Could be the end of the Beaver!
