Great afternoon with Evan and later Bondy, as we were there early the wind hadnt kicked in so went big at first and later changed down to fsw gear

Oh yeah it was Bondy's turn to learn the hard way what happens to aluminium booms eventually.Frown

bad, but in a way good news today at Elwood.

Broke my boom quite a long way out and had a big swim in. Thanks to Evan and Kman for their assistance and concern. It certainly feels a lot better when you're in difficulty that at least others know about it, even if there's not a lot they can do.

Couldn't switch the good boom arm over to trhe other side of the sail, as the clew had broken too.

Think I'll get a carbon boom next, just to see if it's worth it. (Naish alloy lasted 2 years, from new)

....oh, the good news....   -if it didn't happen today in the Bay, it may have happened at Warratah Bay or Phillip Island.

Good afternoon at Elwood with Bondy and Jerry. Pity Bondy missed most of it due to boom breakage.

New sail and boom feel awesome. No problems heading upwind today.

To Bondy's wife: for OH&S you should let Bondy buy a carbon boom because after his swim he was cramping up badly! Frown

I know it's still alloy but the new Prolimit and Aeron "vgrip" style booms might be worth a look. My vote is for carbon though.

Good going guys! Bondy I can still remember breaking mine at Elwood, was only a 500m swim to shore, still bloody exhausting. Cracked the brand new replacement X3 only a year after that. Looks aluminium booms are set to go after 2 years of extensive use, regardless what brand. Will reward myself with another carbon boom too when I'm back on the water.

Evan, you can grab my tracks off ka72 and upload them since you know how....

....it was a decent swim.

Jeurgie, when I got back to within 500m, it felt like I was already home.Smile

Anti KGB,

can I borrow your chinook for a while since you don't sail anymore??Wink

Bondy's swim. Good effort. Not sure why you didn't swim in a straight line though Wink
