Elmo (15665km): JP slalom VI 65cm, NP RSR Eiii 7.8, JP weed36. A once in every 4 years sail Steve called us up last night to see if I was up for a dawny, umm'ed and arr'ed and said I'd suck it and see, got woken up this morn by my wind chimes playing their funky rhythm so I toddled of before light. Got odwn there and it didn't look inviting Steve rocked up and wasn't enthused, we umm'ed and arr'edfor about 1/2 hr and were just about to go when the wind looked to have filled in so a quick "fukit" was said and we started emptying out my trailer. Set Steve up with some kit (big mistake) rugged mine and headed out on one of our lowest tides this year. Walking out through the shallows I spotted a dolphin cruising by, which came right up and circled me less than 10' away in knee deep water, Yeaharh!!!!! what a way to start the day, hopped on the board, had to pump like a mad bastard to get up the chanel look down and theres my mate looking back up at me from under my board how cool is that???? Steve awas already out and flying, so I went out in chase, Awesome fun georgous wind lovely water conditions what else does a muppet need first thing in the morning? Got a few nice squirts across the bay, Steve the annoying skinny arsed Fecker was showing of by chugging the speed board and keeping it above the water the joys of me being waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy to many kilo's heavier. had one ripper drag with Steve across the bay who was hard work to keep up with. Twas only a short 1/2 hour session but we both came of with big shit eating grins Thanks Steve that was fun The wind was a touch stronger than what this shows
Tomski (6938km): Safety Bay, early am. 7.8 reflexII, iso 111, Peped up 33 weedie. Tide too low to speed run, but fun just the same.
Hardies, 9am-ish 6.1 CR, iso 76, delta weed 23 Honking wind for an hour or so. Great fun
Hardies, After lunch. 6.7 CR, iso 76, Volt 34 Was heading to the pub for snitz/pint when Decrepit messaged me with a distance challenge on the last day of FEB. Game on it was! Already had 33NM so setup ok. Rigged when blowing about 17 knots. As soon as we got out there 10-12. Tried a couple of runs without a win so back on the beach........
Hardies late PM 7.8 ReflexII, Iso 111, Volt 34 / Peped up weed 33 settled in nicley. Massive difference between Code Red 2 & ReflexII. Changing over took about 20mins so really noticed.
So if we could PB on rigging/changing kit.....would be PB for sure
Decrepit (22059km): Joined yoyo on the estuary after elmo and evets had left. looked nice, good enough for the 48, but I don't trust morning easterlies, didn't fancy a long grovel back so used the 53 instead, with the 23.5 lockwood and avalon 6.0. had a 33 on the dial. Couldn't get the run and the gusts to coincide, sure there was enough there for a 34, yoyo proved it with a 34.9. Tom arrived after a while and was flying around, wind started dropping out around lunch time. came home for lunch and checked our rankings, realised we could gain a few points with distance and hour. Tom seemed enthusdiastic so we went for it. unfortunately wind didn't come back consistent enough to improve the hour, but our distance was on target.
Slugger apeared towards the end of our mission, he also looked as if he was having fun.

Top work Mike and Tom | ||||||||||||||||||
evets (10573km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU As per Elmo's comments we sat for a hile with me saying I could not be bothered then just as I was off to work for my last visit to Alcoa after 12 years the white caps kicked in. Many thanks to Elmo who prvided me with al of the hardware: JP54S 6.2EII Weedy thing. Great fun on the 54 speed. It is a great flaoter. I was quite able to get it going (displacement mode) in the light wind then get it on the plane in a gust. Once planing it is realy impresive how it keeps planing despite its 73 litres. Great design! Had a vouple of goes at bearing away but should have had the 7.0 to make the most of the wind. Great fun and the end of an era for me. Now will be based at work 70 kms from the estuary so will require a special trip for sailing on the Peel inlet. As Elmo and i were leaving the wind kept filling in and Yoyo showed how good it could get. Well done Dave |
