Best day of this Hatteras week! Bonus day. The wind finallly came up and the 6.0 Ezzy Infinity on the Starboard Carve 135 was just right. Sailed most of the time without cams in the sail. Got tired and took a break and put the cams back in. Big difference in the stability of the rig! Could not get any good speed runs either way, however. Not sure why. Maybe the eel grass caught between the slight opening between the weed fin and the bottom of the board.

Strapped on the GPS just before sunset. Pleasant cruise in somewhat steady NNW winds.

Just as I was starting to have some flat water fun, I ran aground at full speed, bending the boom and putting a big hole in the sail 3 miles from shore. No problem sailing back, but had to go to a smaller sail, and stayed inside in the choppy waters for the rest of the day. Last day in Hatteras - 14 days of sailing, but not a single speed day - either too little wind, or wrong direction with too much chop. But the be

Thanks Evets! Big sail cruising until sunset.. Peter, Nina and I were hoping for a big SW day to do some really fast downwinders, allowing for screaming fast miles, alphas and hour averages... Unfortunately it never came. C'est la vie, maybe next year!
