Stansbury, SA, AU N,NW,W 10-40+knots

sputnik, np5.3,weedy

Tricky took me to Stansbury today because the van suffered a terminal event, (thanks Tricky)

We arrived early to catch the northerly before it picked up but found it  already had so we rigged small and ventured out into the unknown. Those 40knot bullets were to hot to handle and i returned to the beach for maximum, plus some, downhaul adjustment and change to the weed fin. Then we decided to wait for a while for the wind to drop (not something windsurfers usually do) and spent about an hour waiting. We got out and the sea was a bit nasty but sailable and sailed behind the park down to the cemetary were the water was flatter. Nasty, nasty gusts shaking you like a rag doll then the wind changed to west and looked like we might do some k,s but it died out and we sailed back to the point of the park. A couple of runs in the bay then called it quits and derigged in the rain. YellTongue outWink.

The Mission if you chose to accept is to get SA off the bottom for this month! Jeff accepted & we headed to Stansbury with a plan, some Km's before the wind kick's in, then some speed a nauty and some corners. All covered ! Northley about 12-17knt's  Well rigged the 5.8 was going to be a bit under done but the forecast was to increase, hit the water & wam bam 22-30knt's sailed back to shore for the 5m & smaller Kinetic board & 22 weedy ( that proved too small) went back out & wam bam 30 - 40 sailed back & sat on the grass & watched the spray get whipped off the wave crests(pussy toughen up) Ding Ding back out for round 3 (score so far wind 3 tricky 0) Managed some semi respectable runs but the conditions were not in our favor. did get some longer runs down the back side of the spit when the wind swung westerly, then wam bam NO F*&%in wind !! slugged back with the water round my ankles gggrrrr. walked round the point & it picked back up from the NW enought for Jeff on his larger board did a couple of sluggs & changed up the the 5.8 101CA that was still rigged on the grass managed half a run just comfy & wam bam gusty 20-30. That it 4 rounds & I was knocked out! But it was so great to get a sail in, had a enjoyable day even if we had to unrigg in the rain. Thanks for the Coffee when I dropped Jeff home.

Seems Jeff has done it again congrats that is 3 shirts 2 are sitting in the shop waiting for you....I think next month to give some others a chance to get a Tshirt I think the new caculation will be to divide average speed with max speed for max speeds over 28 knots and who ever gets closest to 1 wins the T-shirt

A suggestion?  Maybe some wind on a weekend would be good 1stSmile.  It would be good to change discipline each month - maybe distance, hour, alpha, 2 sec, 5 x 10 and nautical changed each month?  Someone needs to contact the wind gods 1st......

You shouldn't have bought new gear Carl, you know that doesn't appease the Wind Gods.  Come to think of it, I shouldn't have eitherYell

I got your message choco and Tuesday is looking good on the chart 25knots SSE but to get the flattest water you need to be on the water by 8 with low tide at 10o'clock. Low tide is .8 which is perfect to get on the 3 mile spit. Should be able to get a 4hour session+ if you want to stay out as the chop rises. Hey Carl take a sicky and come to Stansbury
