Lake Illawarra, NSW, AU

custom chopped slalom board ~85L, with 6.0 np V8 and custom weed fin ~23cm I think

Got to the lake early, blowing 15-20 kts and freezing cold. Picked up later with some 30 kt gusts coming through now and then. Board + fin was feeling good, but the board was slowly shedding the footstrap pads which wasn't helping the speeds. Good fun session though. Terry where were you?

Lake Illawarra, NSW, AU    Went around to Primbee, just as strong as yesterday. John was that FUN blasting through the weed beds at 36kts.

Couple of runs out to the Island, very choppy, got down behind the wharf for one run, plenty of floaty weed.

Worn out, gave it away. Also out Glen, Mark, Jason and Phillip. Tex arrived for a chat.

WOW.  Windy.  Way overpowered, gusty, choppy, bullets coming through.  Nothing to write home about.  Got some photos of the Illawarra crew off Primbee in the morning though.  Will post on seabreeze.  Respect to Ken and Mike for crossing the lake.

Lake Illawarra, NSW, AU. Primbee, SSW Gusts up to 30 knots

A lot less wind than yesterday (thankfully), and only had about 1 hour on the water. Great fun across the weed flats in front of the IYC - a short run but smooth water. I felt underpowered most of the time and had to go before the wind picked up a bitFrown.

Good to be sailing with John - very fast on the flying fridge doorCool. Also out with Terry and Mark.

nice work guys! Ken and i must have missed the memo to get down there early as we went out around 1 to a completly deserted lake

just got a new GT31 ande have no idea how to use it - it was working on the water but can't seem to get anything off it now - tried reading up on it but got bored. no big deal - nothing special on full wave gear

first time ever i sailed with a beanie - can't belive i haven't done it sooner!! it was great!

anyway - Ken and i had a good sail - he promises to join the team 'tonight'

Try a swimming cap Mike, they work pretty good too if you're not worried about looks

Sorry to miss everyone who came out later, but had to work an afternoon shift today so pulled out around 11.30 What was the wind like later on?

Terry it was the only flat bit of the whole lake, you just had to make sure you dodge or jump over the bigger weed clumps Smile

Mark, good to have you on the team.

John and Glen were really pushing it through the weedbank, Glen will have some good scores when he posts.

Leo, we left your car space vacant, out of respect.

Looking out from home I wondered who was out this afternoon.

The wind could stay around for tomorrow.

Welcome to the team Eckas. Good speeds in the conditions - sorry I missed you yesterday - I had to leave early.

Mike - have a look at the instructions under "Guides" above for setup of the GT31. There is a bit of firmware update and options setup - Tom Chalko's site (linked above) is the go.

I think its time I get serious and get a narrower board for thsese bigger days.  Pushing my 73 and 75 cm wide barges just isn't fun in 20 knots plus.  Anybody looking to sell something quickish with a width in the low 60's?  Eckas
