Recycle (10709km): Started at Safteybay for a few hairy runs with Ado between squalls (2 second from this session) Then headed for Wally world for some swimming interspersed with mad bullets trying to take you over the front of the board, all said and done a pretty intense 12.79ks! SB ca52, rsr e2 5.5,CL 26 WW ca52 rsr e1 6.2 then 5.5 when mast went through top of sail CL26
25 (7387km): Point Walter - on the water at 5.10pm sailed for about 65 minutes for 13km! With Snides and Slowey - just like the good old days for SRM!! A bit of waiting around but hooked a couple of good gusts that were there for the taking! Needed another couple of decent 10s. F2 08 SXS, KA 2012 Koncept 5.8, Tectonic 28 Falcon. Loving the 5.8 - only sailed it once over summer - just getting it tuned up!
Slowboat (25967km): long day. Went to beaver in the morning to see it nuking from the west. Ado and Norts were there giving it a nervous bash. Good effort. I though the wind was going to stay that direction all day- no chance for any kind of speed sailing, but it was a good direction for Pt Walter, so headed back home. Got there a bit before 12 and it was looking epic so I rigged the 5.0m on the Mistral 41. Then it dropped from 30 to 20kts when I was getting my wetsuit on. I figured it was going to be on and off all day so rigged the 6.4m E4 and stuck it on the Mistral speed 55 for float. Wind dropped to 10-15kts as I was sailing out. Just made it back to watch Norts swimming in from his first run. Wind clocked around to the SW soon after, which is really gusty direction for PW due to it lining up with the highest hill upwind, and perfect for the beaver... DOH! Couldnt be arsed derigging 2 rigs and driving back down there (another 1.5 hours round trip in the car). At least the wind picked up again and I got a couple of nice gusts here and there. There were a few patches where it filled in with some wicked bullets. But really short and hard to find. Had a ball. Got smashed a few times in some solid 45kt squalls with hail. Not 6.4m weather. But was able to keep it together the rest of the time for some bullet catching action. Loving this setup. Good to catch up with the guys, and great to see some out of control smoking runs.
Snides (18313km): Point Walter, WA, AU fun but difficult arvo sailing with Slowy/Lao/Porka and 25...these guys where all ripping except for me i feel embarrased posting these speeds with little excuse for the lack of speed... finally got the mistral 47 out of Chris's hands and spent the arvo trying to get it dialled in turned out the 23 i had in was too small in the chop giving me no confidence what so ever. after putting up with it for an hr or so, i finally went in a changed to a 26curtis/lockwood which made all the differnce but by this time the wind had started to dissapear and it was too late.
evo2 5.5/mistral 47/curtis lockwood 23&26 5 days sailing in a row! on equipment varying from formula to speed. |
