Windiest I've sailed Trial Bay, solid westerly 20-30 knots- had 33 knot peak on wind meter. "Sailed" (hung onto boom and took off like paper cup in a gail) with Garry, full low tide flats survival runs in waist high chop and waves. Basically was all a bit too much, even had the fin blow out a few times causing some pretty impressive stacks. Whilst I had fun, I wished I went to Queens... I expect to hear some great speeds and stories for the lucky ones hitting the mud strip.

Toukley Aquatic Club, Peel Street. Arrived..windy. Ripper. Rigged, went out and it died. Ever heard that before? Very up and down, mostly down. Towards the end we got some reasonable gusts. Sailed with Mick and Leo. Leo was flying.
As I packed up, the SW hit. Too cold to rig again.
Kinetic El Nino 85 and 6m.

4454 days ago Port Macquarie, NSW, AU, Jpsl94, Overdrive 6.0 and jp sl3 fin 30cm. Sailed at blackmans point. Wind a little too west to get the smooth water behind the sand bank. Would be ideal in a sw wind and 1hr before low tide. Maybe next time. Water choppy and wind very gusty 10 to 25kts. Great fun but hard work.

4454 days ago 1 categories Sailing Club, Wallis Lake, NSW, AU. Got there at about midday after watching the wind slowly build from home. It looked about 20 od knots, but Rob who was there earlier said the gusts were a lot stronger. Lunch first to suss out the wind and decide what to rig.
Pete and Aza showed up at 12.30, and saw the gusts were around 30 knots ( 25 -28 inshore) Aza got out first in maybe some of the strongest gusts of the day, then it settled a bit, but still gusty when we got out. Wind was mostly W and later had a little south in it. It was so choppy that I opted for the smallest sail 4.2 Severne Blade and Hawk LTD. Curtis 26.5 wave fin for some Bump and jump. Some hugely strong gusts that literally put the wind up you! No way I was going speed sailing today. Just a fun blast.
An Irish guy Tom, from Old Bar showed up and joined us at the end of the session.I'm gonna need a smaller slalom sail, maybe a 4.7. I holed the 4.2 today so it gives me an excuse.Fairly pleased with the speed on the 4.2 given the conditions.
a couple of snaps. The first two are Aza on wave gear and the last Tom and some stronger gust with rain on the way.

Great day out, just hanging with the big boys man, pugsy, mick, leo, & byron, we all went out peel st for a while it was pretty good, then all packed up and went to canton for the southerly and that was real sweet to, personally, i had a great time, i hit some rocks with my fin and took a big chunck out of the front egde, i didnt think it would make so much of a difference but it just kept on picking up weed so i had to call it a day. all in all great day..........

Falcon 79, 6.7m Hellcat, 30cm FO Weedy. Sailed with Dave.
I just got this board second hand of Mark J, and was fanging to give it a go. Super gusty 5kn with regular gusts of 15-20kn. Was sunny earlier and the wind more consistent and looked stronger.....I got down there at 3 when the clouds and rain were rolling in so it stepped back a bit then. Swinging wildly from West, to Southwest, and sometimes South - it was all over the place and choppy as a Mo Fo. I tried the mudbank but it was way too shallow, the top of the cages (assuming were crab traps) were well and truely showing. Collected heaps of greenweed and hit mud lots and even went over the handle bars 3 times. As the tide filled in it got better so I got a couple of fun runs there right down at the bottom where Steve regularly sails.
In reality the board was a little small for my weight today to take full advantage of the super gusty conditions, the 99 would have had me planning before the gusts hit and prob would have got shot me across the mud bak better, dunno - all I can say is when this baby is up and planning is WOW - this is an easy board to sail - unsticks easily when the gusts hit, goes upwind well and copes well with chop.
Got out of the water at 7pm because I was at the mudbank and the wind was dying, so i started tacking back. Halfway back the board sank to my chest as the wind ran out so as I was close to shore I walked home. Mark H can you show my tracks - would love to see my walk of shame. ta
