Hey Dion, congrats on the Alpha PB. Your were pulling some sweet gybes there today! Your board trim in the first photo above is what i kept seeing, like I said, it looks real nice, rode high in the water and you were very efficient for the small sail you were using! You and greg have such a relaxed and fast style, and your rigs are always so upright - I have got to correct that in my technique. Greg pointed out to me today that I am using my wavesailing stance, laying out and pulling the sail over to windward, which when looking at the piccies I clearly am. Thanks for making me aware of this Greg, I will aim to correct it.......when i made a few of the small suggested changes when the wind was still in it felt sooooo much nicer. Great thing about our sport is the sharing - the more experienced and faster guys showing noobs to going fast like me how to improove - saves years of back and forth with bad technique. Cheers 

What a great looking spot,  is there any tidal current when the water's that low.   I'm guessing when the water is over the bank, there would be some chop to deal with but geez it looks it could be fast.

Peter and Gabe, we might have to give this spot a go.  Top shots too Mark.

Matthew there is not much tidal current at all at low tide or once the sand bank comes out of the water. Adam did 30 knots in 12 knots of wind plus a few gusts higher. Greg never had his GPS with him. He would have done about 32 Knots.

Great pics Mark! They clearly show the run you guys have been talking about. Looks like great fun, soooooo flat!  Will definitly have to shoot down for a run very soon. 

Congrats on the Alpha and distance PBs Phil my man. Good pics too - hows the whale there dwarfing you guys, is that it's tail???? - you are doing great on the gybes, and looks like you have got the idea of carving down the waveface - cool huh? well done mate. Got to remind myself each time i see you sail that you havent even been doing this a year yet!!!!! Your sail looks real nice too Phil - the hotsails guys make a great looking sail that's for sure!!!!

Matt, like MArk H said, no current, just smooth water. A few boats and morings to stay windward of (cant see in pics). My 1st sail there was a few weeks back with MArkJ and Dion, tide started coming over the bank, fully submerging it about 90 mins after low tide, but it still stayed pretty flat, obviously not rediculously flat like in these piccies....and still no current with tide over bar. At high tide there are better places to sail with longer runs. Have sailed it twice with about 12-14kn and each time did around 29-30kn when not fully lit. Would have done better today on the 113 Falcon due to the lightness of the breeze, but really wanted to give the 99 a run to see how she felt with the 7.8. Still great fun skating across flat water - a prelude to Sandy Point. The only issue with the run is that it is short, prob only 200m, but damn it is a hoot. Greg and I were looking at the angle to the breeze. Assuming that a beam reach is 90degrees to the wind, the sandbar runs at about 100degrees so to get great speeds we would have to bear off way more into the slightly chopier water when a bullet hits, but still we are talking quite flat water. Would love a good 20kn to see what speeds we could get there building up speed along the bank and then bearing off into the chanel.

Thanks Mark and AJ for the info, it sounds like its a bit shorter than the smiths lake run, there's going to be some fast speeds coming from behind that bank.

Good speeds to you at Sandy Point as well.

Adam, I think it's a pectoral fin (side fin). Been heaps out, and close too. Big buggers! Yeah, been enjoying gybing on the wave / swell faces, great ramp and angle- just gotta do them faster and harder!  Oh, and make 90 percent, not 50...

Here's a few more Barry took sitting up on the headland. The other fellow is from Lake Mac, 62 and charged the wind, swells and whales. Insperational to watch him.

Adam, I spotted a post from Yamba yesterday at that breakwall you spoke of, and it looks very nice! I think you'll have a ball if you get a few good Noreasters. Looks good on Google Earth.

 By the way all, I saw a post from the Pinnaroos dated the 13th Oct. which had a link provided by Lao Shi on "how to tune race sails for speedsailing". This is part/excerpt of a Ghosts of Speed windsurfing movie that's being made. Very interesting video. Well worth the look. Thanks Lao Shi!!

Hey AJ, It really lines up nicely with the Nor'easter doesn't it. will check out the posts when you sail it. There is a post from yesterday from a Phil from the Morton Bay Mob at that spot, and he got a 34 2 sec. peak, and his tracks looked sweet too!

 Matt K that A+B looks the business. Betcha your itchin' to get it on water! You might come next Tues. Forecast is looking good.

Hey Dion, come up anytime mate. The bay works best in south west, west. nor-west, north and nor east- all those directions are "onshore", so it does get a big bumpy, but the wind is clean, the water is warm and gin clear. Though I'm now inspired to sail it in a southerly as I just watched Mark J a few hours ago charging around the curve off the bay sitting on 30 knots. 

Yep, hanging to sail Queens with the new sail. Gotta break the 30 knots barrier, so hopefully Mon or Tues is game on and I'll shoot down!
