Big crowd. Really gusty and crook angle. Rigged too small. But hey, it was sunny, not cold and good bunch of guys to sail with.

Queens Lake, NSW, AU Had a quick sail at Queens, exocet sl82, overdrive 6.7, jp slalom 30cm. Good sail at the lake, a little gusty but not too bad. Wind 15-20kts. Bit choppy but water was so warm. Should have used the weedy today, spin out city. Plenty of Black swans up the east side of the lake.

Queens Lake, NSW, AU

Got to Queens Lake. Phil came in as I was going out. Started off not much wind than wind came in about 12pm. Steve & Dion turned up about 1pm. At the end of my session I was a bit over powered with the 7.5m sail. Fun day and glad to get some wind on the weekend for a change. If I had more time I would have changed down to a 6.7m & IS 101. Not to be!

I-Sonic 121, 7.5 VMG, JP 36 Weed fin.

8m Hot Sails + HMAS Falcon 113 + Meanline 40cm

What a solid combo - not fully lit, so a bit higher is possible I think on my big gear. Looking fwd to trying the smaller GPS sails Wed/Thurs if the forecast comes true. A PB for me on the big gear combo. As thought, the 2sec speed was in the choppy channel when I found a bullet and dumped outhaul. Damn this is fun. Love the big gear - feels bullet prooof - love the new sail - easy to rig for a cammed sail

Got out late and missed good wind, but still awesome to sail the famous Sandy.  First sail with 6.2 Hellcat, and I am SO IN LOVE.  Can't wait til we get a decent front!!

So lovely to finally meet some of the Forster crew.  Thank you so much for dinner Pete and Jo!!

First days sail at Sandy point.Rigged and went out at about 11.00 with SL103 Select32 6.5GTX, then Select 37.I think I got the better speeds with the smaller fin. It was such a good run on that flat water.Awesome!! Good to be on water with Chris, Adam, Pete and Irish Tom.Great to see him down here and sailing.Great start to the holiday.Nicole arrived a little later for a late session too.

 Wind was 15 -18k WSW-SW

Wallis Lake, NSW, AU

Very nice day on the lake. In a limited time, we got two sessions separated only by flat windless hour, but ... great sailing.

Started with 120L and swapped for 101L later in the afternoon. 6.7 NP H2 has to be my favourite sail. 34cm weedy fin was probably overkill.

Because God can be cruel man, a fact your reminded of every time you look in the mirror, ha, i noticed it ages ago with big larko too, i think its because it takes more force to move more wieght, but as that heavy wieght builds speed, releasing what was more force on it than the lesser wieght, meaning more potential for speed, looks like you guys are warming up to some great speeds down there at sandy, good luck

Well done Dion and Mark H on the PB's.  Dion, it sure feels good riding on a small slalom board.

Chris, that's no good for the first sail away, hope it doesn't ruin the rest of the holiday.  Good to hear that Irish Tom made it down there as well

The Marauders are spread far and wide! Glad everyone got out for a lash. I hit Queens nice and early (left home 6.15 am), got robbed, 10-15 knots tops, planed a few times (21 knots max speed), watched the swans and went home. Good on ya Mark, Dion and Steve  for gettin' into some wind. Stupid work cut short a good dayYell

Some good pb's there Dion and Mark. Again everyone is sitting on 30 knots (ho-hum)....my day will come..lol

Looks like a hoot back up home up as well! Laptop damaged and can't post till I catchup with Gabe. Will Post Nics figures at the same time. Typing on blackberry Nice sesh yesterday - 8m HSM GPS and HMAS Falcon 113, 40cm Meanline. Great combo for my weight today. Previous PB on my big gear was 31.6kn, and according to gps max speed I beat that no worries - although with these things ya dunno till KA72 runs the stats. Team dinner at Petes place last night - thanks Pete and Jo. Spag bog and beer/wine - yummo and a great catch up. Tacos at our place after the next sail

Hey guys, you all did quite well up there.I rushed my post yesterday so I've added a little to the post. I couldn't process my tracks on the laptop either, so thanks Mark for doing that. It was a combined file. The peak was right at the vey end of the longest run, interestingly. No PB's but next Wed. looking promising. Adam, has problems with his laptop screen, so couldn't post. Everyone else..Pete Nicole and Adam will probably post today.

Met up with a local "Red"whom I remember seeing about 15 years ago, when we down here last, and I am surprised we remember each other!A lot of the locals ride KA sails and pretty much have the place dialled.Nice crowd on water, about 6 - 8 by lunchtime.

The "Pit" has its problems with encroaching sand dunes that are definitely taller than I remember and this cuts off the early part of the run from the wind shortening the run somewhat. It still is a great spot and worth the long drive down.Don't leave it too long though!

Had dinner and wine at Pete's place at the Iluka cottages with the rest of the team last night. Had a real chat fest with everyone.Nice but tiring evening for all!

Well done Dion and Mark H on those PB's too. Good to see the Capt'n getting in on the action!!Smile

Cheers from Sandy Point.

Congrats on the PBs Mark and Dion - flying the Marauder Flag Yeah! My mind is still blown as to how close to the bank you can sail with a 40cm fin here. Within 1-2m!!! That chattering sound of skating over the slightly pocked water - cool. Like MJ's speed run at home but heaps longer Borrowing Nics bro's laptop for two weeks from this arv. Thanx in advance Daniel - you are the man. Will post our stuff this evening. Captain Mark - I am handicapped when it comes to techy stuff so feel free to post my tracks - will look similar to gabe's I suspect, however I think my best run was when I dumped the outhaul and ran out into the channel. Will be interesting to see.

Well done Hamish for the Hr and Distance PB's, that wind direction can be hard to work out what sail size to use as it's so calm on the inside.  No wonder you were a bit overpowered, I was on a 6.0 and planing 95% of the time.

Well done too AJ for the Hr PB, what's the forecast for later in the week.

Hey Jerry - where do u rig and launch to wavesail in an Easterly? Surfclub seems to have the closest carpark to the water for less gear carrying? Open to driving so if there are easier places to launch, or better breaks or cleaner wind let me know. Cheers, catch you guys on Saturday.

Adam we take the road to waratah bay, so drive from sandy point and turn left at the road that takes you to waratah bay and follow it around until it gets to the beach, there is a small carpark just after a bend in the road, we call that spot The Gap and its an awesome beach in an easterly.

Just had a look at the map and the car park is on the corner of Fish Creek-Waratah rd and Gale st.

Thanks a million Jerry, I am keen to have a sail there for sure and am glad I brought the wave gear down too. . Easterly looks pretty big for next week and weekend - Is an Easterly wind no good for the pit along the Northern bank where the green Buoys are (assuming at low tide)? Sorry for all the questions, just want to be across all options.
Jman

Australia
4436 days ago

Yeah ene is good along there just be aware that it gets very shallow in a few spots.

As for wave sailing lots of guys walk over to the surf from the inlet when its ese, its about 350m over the dunes only problem is if you take the wrong sail over its a pain to get back and re- rig also seems to be a bit sharky!

I prefer the shop or the Gap but the hard core wave guys always go over the dunes if its on.

Hope this helps.
